Hi Clarissagum, thanks for submitting this Rapid Grant application. We are excited about your plans to run an editing contest about educational institutions of Nigeria. I have reviewed your proposal and would like to ask a few questions:

  • How did you learn about Wikimedia Foundation grants?
  • You mentioned that you would have a few experienced editors who would also judge the contest. Could you please provide their usernames?
  • Are you planning to use any tracking tool to measure participants’ contributions?
  • Will you be training any new participants? How many of them do you expect to have during the contest?
  • I have also a few requests regarding the proposed budget:
    • Social media expenses - we think that these costs are high, please reduce them to 200 USD.
    • Prizes - similarly, the amount of prizes is high. Please reduce it to 300 USD.
    • Please make sure to update the requested total budget in USD and NGN after making the requested changes.

Looking forward to hearing from you. Best regards, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 12:00, 22 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

DSaroyan (WMF), thanks for asking, below are the answers to the questions.
  • I was invited to join Wikimedia User Group Nigeria, I became a member of the community and there I found out about so many grant requests and awareness notifications which I participated. I picked interest in organizing a project as well and researched and I found out about the page Grants:Project/Rapid where I learnt a lot and then decided to submit my first proposal.
  • Samatics and DonKevin are the two experienced editors expected to judge the contest.
  • I'm expecting at least 10 new participants to participate in the contest through the social media promotion, especially students who will love to contribute.
Hi Clarissagum, I am glad you are requesting for your first grant and that you have participated in one of our projects. It would not be bad to request beforehand on our availability and input. Please feel free to reach out to either DonKevin or me. I am willing to support you to make your project a success. In addition, based on my experience participating or organising online events in Nigeria I would advice you reduce the number of participants to 30, number of articles to 50 and new users to 10. --Samatics (talk) 14:41, 22 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
