editHello Uncle Bash007, thanks again for submitting this Rapid Grant request. We have reviewed it and unfortunately, we decided to not fund this grant. It was not funded for the following reasons:
- While we appreciate your efforts to run a thematic local WPWP contest in the Hausa community, there are already many overlapping local WPWP grants and local contests where Hausa community members can participate in (WPWP in the Hausa community, WPWP in Nigeria, and the international contest). For the WPWP contest, we are not going to support any local thematic grant project when we already have a dedicated funded grant for the local community contest. However, this does not mean that we don’t encourage you to increase the diversity and gender representation of the WPWP campaign in the Hausa community.
- If you plan to run Wikimedia activities for female participants, we highly encourage you to engage female organizers and leaders in the team. We understand that currently you don’t have any active female Wikimedians in the Hausa community. In the beginning, they can be non-Wikimedians from your community or Wikimedians from other communities who will support you in adjusting the planned activities for female participants. They can be jury members, event coordinators, advisors, and project leaders.
- The WPWP campaign runs from 1 July 2021 to 31 August 2021, and the proposed grant duration is from 16 August 2021 to 31 August 2021. This means this local contest will last less than 2 weeks, instead of the recommended two months.

Hi Saroyan.. Thank you for your feedback on my proposed WPWP Female contest. I understand your reasons very well. The only thing i want to add is that on my current project i dedicated much effort in recruiting female editors and motivating them to engage in editing Wikipedia so as to become active users, and i have atleast 4-5 females which have shown keen interest and worked hard toward stated goal. I believe with Wpwp which is one of the most simplest form of contribution will encourage female participation in my locality. nevertheless i appreciate the feedback and will look forward on planning another activity that will encourage the above goal.
