Question from Vojtěch Dostál

  •   Question: Hello @Art Jarka:, you are a member of Wikimedia Czech Republic. Rapid grant guidelines state that it is a good idea to contact your chapter in advance of writing a new grant proposal. Have you tried reaching to the chapter for direct financial support? This seems like an idea our chapter is likely to support, and it's much more economical than administering a wholly new grant request.--Vojtěch Dostál (talk) 16:58, 19 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
    • Of course, I also considered this possibility of cooperation. But I found information on the Wikipedia website that Mediagrant is out of date. Its main page states that the project Mediagrant of Wikimedia Czech Republic is out of date! So I assume that it doesn't work. I read in the discussion that it is not at all clear who Mediagrant leads. Therefore I determined to be dysfunctional and not developing.--Art Jarka (talk) 11:08, 21 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
      • Yes, we continuously update our program portfolio and you are right about this past program. However, it is well-known that we offer community minigrants and there are also myriad other opportunities for funding and cooperation within our chapter, which you can learn about by contacting our multimedia coordinator. Project like this is tailored to what our chapter has been doing and supporting for many years. Vojtěch Dostál (talk) 15:41, 21 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
        • Community mini-grants do not define financial limits or specific rules, which is impractical for the implementation of the project and the applicant does not know what can and what cannot be done. I need to know these rules in advance, to properly design the project. Community mini-grants lack a manual for the type of activity that will be implemented within my project. • Hello Art Jarka-- we are perfectly willing to support this proposal through Rapid Grants if you prefer, but it's possible you can receive funds much more quickly and with less work involved from your local affiliate as Vojtěch Dostál suggests compared to our processes. I'm not familiar with WMCZ's funding processes, but it sounds to me that Vojtěch or others with the affiliate are willing to provide some support to you. Would you prefer to try that option, or do you want to proceed with funding through Rapid Grants? I JethroBT (WMF) (talk) 19:15, 14 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
