Grants talk:Project/DBpedia/GlobalFactSyncRE/Midpoint

Comments from I JethroBT (WMF) edit

@Tina Schmeissner, SebastianHellmann, and Lewoniewski: Hello GlobalFactSyncRE team, and thanks for your midpoint report on building a tool to detect and resolve differences between infoboxes across Wikimedia projects. I am accepting the report with the following comments / questions:

  • First, it's great to see that you've researched and identified six targets as topics that are suitable for your tool to keep relatively accurate and consistent across Wikimedia projects and Wikidata. Congratulations on this achievement!
  • Thanks for creating a high-level set of updates on the proposal page in addition to this midpoint report. I think it's great to direct people to very direct ways that your tool can be used through userscripts, the Reference WebService, and
  • I appreciate the work done at the outset to identify some thresholds around complexity and practical feasibility of syncing along certain parameters. It's great to see some clarity around what is likely to vary across Wikimedia projects providing information. As well as factors that are ambiguous (e.g. remakes for future films)
  • Can you provide some more detail around your activities at movement events and other relevant conferences (WikidataCon, Wikimania, ISWC)? What sort of presentations were made? Were you able to connect with volunteers, coordinate some testing, or were there other goals or positive outcomes you had at these events?
  • Will the additional 10 sync targets likely come from Grants:Project/DBpedia/GlobalFactSyncRE/SyncTargets, or were their other potential topics that are exploring?
  • Please update your budget table on the Finance tab with the spending you have done so far.

Please let me know if you have any questions, and we look forward to your final report! With thanks, I JethroBT (WMF) (talk) 17:52, 7 February 2020 (UTC)Reply
