Feedback from MEA regional funds review team edit

Hello Lomoraronad, thanks for submitting this grant request. We appreciate your work to support the Wikimedia community in South Sudan. We have reviewed your grant request and we have a few requests:

Eligibility requests:

  • Per Rapid Fund criteria, the total grant value accessible annually to groups is up to USD 10,000. This fiscal year, we have already funded 8,450 USD for the South Sudan Wikimedia group which means that we can fund this project only for 1,550 USD. We request to adjust the budget accordingly by reducing the project scope. We will not be able to fund any grant request that is above 1,550 USD.
  • Wikimedia Community User Group South Sudan is not a recognized Wikimedia affiliate. However, on your Meta-Wiki page, social media, and/or Fluxx Grantee Portal you are presenting yourself as a recognized affiliate. We request that the group designation is updated and corrected on the relevant Meta-Wiki pages, Fluxx Grantee Portal, and other public-facing pages or materials. Even if the group title mentions that you are a "proposed" or "planned" affiliate you cannot use Wikimedia logos or marks to reference your own organization/group, you cannot refer to yourself as a "User Group" or "Wikimedia [country name]" if this hasn't been explicitly approved by the Affiliation Committee. We will move forward with this request. However, we will not move forward with any future grant requests if the group designation is not clarified on relevant pages.

Proposal-related requests:

  • Please adjust your detailed budget, remove any duplicate expenses and align it with local prices. Once the detailed budget is updated, please edit your response to questions 19 and 19.2.
  • Question 5: Please make it clear who will run the training sessions and what is their username. Please indicate which other teams will support you to implement the activities.
  • Question 3: Please give a more comprehensive activity list. It should be clear what activities you are planning to carry out in this project.
  • Please review your responses to questions 6, 7, and 8.
  • Please fill out question 17 (contributions per Wikimedia project). Additionally, please provide detailed definitions for the core metrics. How do you define participants, editors, and organizers? Add them to the metrics section in your grant proposal (question 17).
  • Which resources will you use to train participants? Please add all relevant links and information to your response to question 2. If you don't have any training resources, please explain why.

Please make the indicated changes to your grant application on the Wikimedia Foundation Grantee Portal (Fluxx). Log in to the Grantee Portal and you will see your application in the 'Proposals need attention' section. Edit and re-submit your application by February 27, 2023. Let us know if you have any questions. Best regards, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 13:49, 23 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
