1. What is the change that you are trying to bring about and why is this important.

Climate change has had significant impacts on the lives of people in South Sudan, including extreme flooding events. In 2022, 1.18 billion people globally were affected by such events, 27 million of whom were children. Despite this, there is a lack of information and understanding about how individuals and communities are experiencing and responding to these impacts. The change the Wikiforhumarights will bring is the availability and access to relevant information about climate change, rivers, and topics of impact around climate change and as well make sure the content created is also available in Dinka and Nuer Languages to make sure the content is available.

2. Describe your main approaches or strategies to achieve these changes and why you think they will be effective.

we shall have 3 modes of strategies to implement this program;

1. Training sessions will be conducted in partnership with Juba University to educate citizens on how to share their experiences and responses to climate change impacts and the right to a healthy environment.
2. Collaboration with the Dinka and Nuer Wikipedia language communities to identify and translate relevant Wikimedia content.
3. Photo walk and Hunt of available photos but also looking at existing photos on this topic that already exist and create articles around them

Regular monitoring and evaluation of the project to ensure its effectiveness and make any necessary adjustments. The available resources I got during the organizer lab training, shall be used to train the members

3. What are the activities you will be developing and delivering as part of these approaches or strategies?

1. Wikidata, item editathon, we shall also. have a session of adding items about climate change on Wikidata

2. We shall be having a Wordathon, Adding content on Wikitionary for the Dinka and Nuer Languages, with a list of 200 words that needed to be added into the local language wiktionary this will be the right time
3. An Editathon on Wikipedia and training with the other Academia, Juba University houses many activists and students interested in studying or writing about the climate and environment

Flooding and oil pollution are having significant impacts on climate change in South Sudan, but many in the community are unaware of these issues. Making the information available will fill the gap in knowledge and raise awareness Disseminating information through the media has been challenging. However, creating content on Wikipedia about climate change in local languages provides a valuable resource for individuals seeking information on important issues, improve access, and encourage action

10. In what ways are you actively seeking to contribute towards creating a safer, supportive, more equitable environment for participants?

Via our WhatsApp and telegram groups that we created in the following of this conversation, we also have weekly meet-ups at the community hall to talk about this project and other projects with the university students and the language communities

11. Please tell us about how you have let your Wikimedia communities know about the planned activities and this proposal. Use this space to describe the processes you carried out to make the community more involved in planning this proposal. Please link the on-wiki community discussion(s) around the proposals.

We first had a meeting at the beginning of the year with the community administrators and members about the plan for the year and since I ama part of a Wikimedia Organiser Lab program I suggested the Wiki for human rights program that everyone picked as a topic of interest and lucky enough the grants for it opened and we are excited to apply since this was a planed program with meetings done to prepare internally how it would be run, and hence this application
