As Suriname is Dutch speaking it is an important member of the Dutch wiki community Wiki loves monuments is a great initiative to bring both historic monuments and Wikipedia to the attention of young persons in Suriname, it could be the start of a career in monument conservation in a developing country and bring new authors to Wikipedia.

Heartily supported. This is a very nice, accessible project in which Surinamese children of school age are stimulated to discover the beautiful heritage of their country themselves and to further disseminate the results via the Wikipedia projects. --Grijz (talk) 20:10, 13 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Endorsement on behalf of Wikimedia Nederland

WMNL has been a partner of Stichting Gebouwd Erfgoed Suriname in WIki Loves Monuments for two years now. They have impressed us with their professionalism, enthousiasm and creativity. Their efforts have really contributed to documenting Suriname's heritage on Commons. I wholeheartedly support this grant application and look forward to working with them again. As a member of the Suriname project on Dutch langiage Wikipedia, hoping for much more participation from Suriname itself, I greatly endorse this initiative!! For the reasons that are yet given and since this project supports WMF goals in a very good manner. After this project is completed:

  • There will be more photos of Surinamese-built world heritage on Commons that can be shared across all projects and in all languages, as well can be used freely by often budget-low Surinamese entrepreneurs and organizations;
  • There will a larger audience for wiki pages related to Surinamese topics, as a more diverse representation of Suriname will be available after this project;
  • The reliability of Wikipedia will sensed better, when Surinamese can turn more often to Wikipedia for their information needs;
  • 135 young Surinamese will participate in this project and in the development of WMF wikis, such as Wikipedia and Commons. For some of them it will hopefully taste for more. So hopefully we can welcome more participants/users from Suriname for the Wikimedia projects!

To emphasize it, I would like to mention a DYK: Did you know that Surinamese schools receive discarded schoolbooks from schools from the Netherlands as donations? (as a development country with lack of money) So, all free information via Wikimedia is extra valuable for the Surinamese population. I surely endorse this project!
