There is a clear nexus between Wikimedia projects and what librarians do. Libraries open up knowledge and create access pathways for information to be open, findable and available. This resonates with what Wikimedia projects are all about - opening up the sum total of human knowledge to be freely available to all. However, quite a large number of these information professionals are yet to understand this. Teaching them Wikimedia skills is an avenue for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) as pertains to digital literacy skills, as well as a means of opening up knowledge resources in the holdings of their libraries which will serve the entire Wikimedia community in Gombe for creation of more content on Wikipedia and sister projects.

I strongly support this proposal. AfricanLibrarian (talk) 10:44, 19 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Endorsement from Omorodion1 (talk) edit

This is a timely and viable project with potential great impact in the information and open knowledge ecosystem. This project will help address some of the misconception surrounding Wikipedia among members of the academic community in Nigeria, and will, on the long run, help address the contributor and content gaps in the global encyclopedia. I therefore wholeheartedly support this project.Omorodion1 (talk) 08:20, 23 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Support The relationship between Wikimedia's goals and librarians' roles is evident, as both aim to democratize access to knowledge. Teaching librarians Wikimedia skills not only boosts their digital literacy but also leverages library resources to enrich Wikipedia and its related projects. I fully endorse this initiative for its potential to enhance information sharing in Gombe's Wikimedia community. Bukky658 (talk) 16:13, 23 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Aim of Project edit

The training is for Librarians who will contribute to GLAMS and open knowledge. The project is sustainable and after it, Librarians from Gombe State will be introduced to wikimedia as Editors. Tesleemah (talk) 11:21, 24 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
