"I'm pleased to endorse as a facilitator and translator for the MediaWiki Editathon at Kad ICTHUB. As a skilled Wikipedian and translator as demonstrated exceptional abilities in promoting free knowledge and bridging language gaps. Our expertise in facilitating workshops and translating content will ensure a successful editathon, aligning with the goals of:

  • By providing training and resources,we will empower researchers to contribute to Wikimedia projects, enriching the quality and diversity of content.
  • As a translator, I will help bridge the language gap, making Wikimedia projects more accessible and fostering a community of developers who can improve and sustain Wikipedia.

The proposal is important for my community because:

  1. Our community deserves to have their language, culture, and history accurately represented on Wikimedia projects, promoting cultural preservation and awareness.
  2. By contributing to Mediawiki projects, we can bridge the gap in available information fostering knowledge equity and accessibility.
  3. The editathon will empower community members to contribute to free knowledge, building a sense of ownership and promoting community engagement.

The chosen strategies will achieve the expected results because:

  1. We'll engage with specific groups, ensuring diverse participation and addressing knowledge gaps.
  2. Hands-on editing experience and mentorship will equip participants with the skills and confidence to contribute.
  3. Group sessions will foster teamwork, knowledge sharing, and learning from experienced editors.

By implementing these strategies, we'll create a sustainable, inclusive, and active community that promotes free knowledge, cultural representation, and community engagement, ultimately enriching Wikimedia projects and empowering our community.

Yes, the proposal appears to be coherent in terms of:

  • Clear and specific goals are outlined, focusing on content creation, community engagement, and skill development.
  • Well-defined activities and approaches are described to achieve the objectives, including editathons, training, and outreach.
  • A detailed budget is provided, allocating resources efficiently to support the strategies and objectives.
  • Specific metrics are outlined to measure success, including the number of articles created, participants trained, and community engagement metrics.

The proposal effectively connects the objectives, strategies, budget, and expected results, demonstrating a logical and coherent plan. This coherence ensures a clear understanding of the project's goals, methods, and expected outcomes, making it easier to implement and evaluate.

Overall, the proposal presents a well-structured and coherent plan, increasing its potential for success and effective utilization of resources.

I highly recommend for this role, and I'm confident that our dedication and expertise will make a significant impact on the editathon's success.

Rapid Fund Request : Not Funded

edit

Thank you for submitting your application. After a thorough review of your proposal, we have made a decision not to fund your proposal. See the notes speaking to the rationale of the decision below;

  • It is unclear who the applicants are and their current involvement with Wikimedia projects. There is a mention of the project focusing on Media Wiki but opaque as to how this focus was identified and the experience the applicants have in relation to the proposed initiative.
  • Additionally, it is unclear why this cannot already happen since it is being embedded in the institutions curricula though again unclear who holds the RWiC certification.

Thank you. VThamaini (WMF) (talk) 11:54, 25 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
