I'm Zainab Muhammad Isah and I'm a new here. I learn editing Wikipedia from one of the campaigns organize by Musaddam Idris. I think this is also a good chance for me to learn again how to edit in the other projects.Zainerb (talk) 07:46, 6 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

My feedback edit

I am totally supporting this project because of the following reasons:

  • It's happening for the first time since the existence of Fulfulde Wikipedia. Something similar like this had never happened in the community before.
  • The community is a new one and has so many members who are joining with so much energy, enthuasism and much interest to conribute to the development of the Fulfulde Wikipedia. Having this project at this time is same as injecting them with fresh spirit of wanting to contribute more as they will be educated about the other projects.
  • This project will help add value to the editing quality of the Fulfulde Wikipedia because the community members will learn how to add the articles they created on Wikidata and link them with the relevant images videos and sounds from Wikicommons.Ibrahim442 (talk) 16:48, 3 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

I consider this proposal an essential one and a well thoughtful plan for laying the foundation of making the Fulfulde Wikipedia to becoming great source of sharing free Knowledge and to the general Fulfulde people around the world. The strategy implemented is also a goal achieving one since it clear states that the participants will first of all be guided and educated about what is expected of them, showed them what to do and them instruct them to do it. If there's anything I would recommend it would that, the organizer have to provide a way in which the participants can still contact him when they have certain difficulties during the period they will be uploading their recorded words. However, I think the target of 2000 words may be too much for the stated number of the participants. May be one activity can be added like awareness campaign in one of the Fulani dominated areas to invite more people to join in the project.Mamman AA (talk) 13:37, 5 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Feedback from Harandee (talk) 07:51, 6 June 2022 (UTC) edit

I know about Wikipedia recently through a project like this and I believe this one also will bring new individuals like me who will know it and start contributing about it. Harandee (talk) 07:51, 6 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Undoubtedly, this project is a massive move which we joyously welcome with opened arms as we will get to learn other potential ways we can contribute to Wikimedia projects. I therefore, highly recommend it to be done as will both help in integrating, developing and strengthening the coordination among the Fulfulde Wikipedia editors and also bridge the existing wider gap in the Fulfulde Wikipedia being one of the least contents represented Wikipedia.

Comments from MEA regional funds staff edit

Hi Musaddam Idriss, thank you for submitting your grant application. After reviewing your grant proposal, we have some questions to learn more about the project and planned activities.

  • Do you have team members who have experience working with lexicographical data on Wikidata?

Ans: Yes, me and Ibrahim442 have the relevant experience, we are both contributors of Wikidata and participated in the online events related to lexicographical data like the Ghana Histo-Citaton organized by the Wikimedians in Ghana. We will also invite additional Wikimedian with vast experience from another community to serve as a facilitator.

  • Could you please confirm that all participants will be native speakers of Fulfulde?

Ans: All the participants will be absolutely native speakers of Fulfulde.

  • The training space expense is higher from what we usually fund. Have you considered finding another cheaper option for space?

Ans: Yes, if required, I can adjust the training time frame as well as the schedule to a one physical training and one virtual/online training. Similarly, the change in the amount of renting the training space was due to the fact that in the previous projects which I organized, I learned/experienced that the spaces we used to hire in training the participants are badly equipped in terms of network connections as we always struggled with it when attempting to access the internet which not only distracted the activities but also consume the most precious part of the training time we have which in the end lead to bringing a number of participants being left behind. In other hand, being it more than a day training has of course make the amount higher than usual since in the previous projects we used to carry only a one day training event. However, if our community can be funded to buy own router and projector, then that will solves the problem of preparing to go for hiring a costly place in an attempt to have a space that is provisioned with strong internet connection/good equipment and will also prevent request of funding for the same in the subsequent projects.

  • What would it cost to purchase a projector and router for the community instead of hiring them every time?

Ans: I checked the local online markets few hours ago and found out that it will cost nearly ₦230,000 to purchase a projector and a router. Here's the breakdown as well as the reference to the sources:

  1. Average cost of purchasing a projector is ₦150,000 as found on Jiji.ng
  2. Average cost of purchasing a wireless portable router is ₦30,000 as placed on Jiji.ng
  3. Average cost of purchasing a projector screen is ₦48,150 as placed on Konga.com

Please make add your responses on this discussion page.

Looking forward to hearing from you soon. Thanks for your time, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 10:47, 8 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
