Rapid Fund Request Approved edit

Thank you for applying to the rapid fund program. We have approved funding in the amount of 1,212,121 XOF. Please see the comments below linked to the funding decision;

  • In your report, we hope to see and learn what you measured to help you respond to the learning questions you shared. Please ensure you have useful metrics and that you have captured the learnings and shared them with your community. Please include this in the report together with the tools you used to track the progress made - both for qualitative and quantitative work.
  • There is a need to clearly define what editors in the event are able to do, what actions the editors can take after the event - how about after 6 months, and what support the group is providing to make this possible. Putting SMART objectives together with clear metrics will support you in assessing whether the project is working or not, and this is beyond quantitative metrics. There are other ways of tracking editor growth and retention; here is a tutorial on how to use PAWS to query retention with this template and a tutorial in English - we understand the language of the materials can be limiting; therefore, please let us know if you would like us to organize a call to review the materials with French interpretation.  We would like you to deepen your approach to tracking retention beyond just the number of attendees.
  • In the future, we will need to see more engagement in your community on the proposals submitted and feel free to add any minutes for any offline form of engagement. It is important that the User Group has active engagement with their community, including on matters related to resourcing.
  • Seeing that the members of this project are also involved in the proposal related to the Kabiye language please include aspects of the proposal to this one. From our review, it is clear that the user group is supporting the development of the Ewe and Kabiye language Wikipedias and sees a need to work on both as part of a larger language project and not separately. It is more strategic and also supports efficiency in resource and capacity use. We have therefore declined the application related to Awareness raising and content creation on Wikipedia Kabiye.
  • We see a need for those involved in the languages to continue gaining experience - a review of the edit history of the team members involved in the 2 projects has also informed the funding decision.
  • Seeing that the proposals are by leaders of the User Group we have credited all to the User Group.
