Grants talk:Programs/Wikimedia Community Fund/Rapid Fund/臺灣智慧財產權教育推廣專案 (ID: 22766465)
Your grant application has been approved
editHello @Subscriptshoe9,
Congratulations! Your grant application has been approved in the amount of TWD 162,100 from 1 October 2024 to 30 March 2025. Could you adjust your proposed budget accordingly? You can do that by adding a new tab to the existing excel sheet and labelling it revised. Once you have made the revisions, please reply to this talkpage post. Note that approved amount is based on the prevailing TWD/ USD exchange rate adopted by WMF Finance team.
Observations/ Recommendations
- Thank you for putting together your first rapid fund application. We particularly appreciate how this project/approach could support the movement in reaching out to new partners in Taiwan. Some questions, comments and recommendations captured during the review process requires your response:
- 1) Given the scope of your project on intellectual property rights may include creative commons licensing, we are sharing more about our collaboration/support of two projects with Creative Commons Indonesia. They have produced many teaching/ learning resources as part of their project that could be translated/re-purposed as well. We are sharing as this may be useful. a) Promoting and Fostering the Use of Open Educational Resources in Indonesia (application; final report); b) Empowering OER Stakeholders and Educators in Indonesia (application).
- 2) As you may be aware, Wikimedia Taiwan has an interest in Freedom of Panorama. If this is of interest to your current/ future project(s), please reach out to them for further discussions/ collaboration. They are aware of your grant application.
- 3) National University of Taiwan Wikiclub members had inquired about putting in a rapid fund grant earlier. We noted that you plan to engage them in the implementation process. We hope your collaboration will spur further creative ideas/ projects from them for future grant application(s).
- 4) These are feedback/ questions that came up during the review of your grant application (note that your application and supporting documents were translated using google, hence there may be some content that were "lost in translation"): a) Budget - 5 staff mentioned in the proposal but the budget contains salary for 6 part-time staff. +48 other staff renumeration which has not been explained clearly. b) The budget seems broadly in line with what I'd expect, but the line items are vague in some cases and would do better with more elaboration ; c) learning and evaluation section - the metrics of 30 commons changes don't seem to align with the proposed activities; d) other general clarifications - Is this building on any past lecture series or other activities?; Do you plan to conduct any edit-a-thon to contribute to Wikiprojects? This could help you in thinking about/ supplementing content contribution portion of your project which better .
We know even the best thought through plans may change
In the event that there are changes to your implementation schedule, you can reach out to request for a grant extension (i.e. extend end date). Similarly, if there is a surplus budget or changes to your planned budget, you can reach out to me about reallocation (via email and on this talkpage). There is also the option to have the unspent funds deducted against a future grant. More details here: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:Return_unused_funds_to_WMF

- @JChen (WMF)
- I apologize for the delayed response due to ongoing issues related to open proxy blocks.
- 1) Thank you for providing the Indonesian case studies. We are carefully reviewing and referencing them for our project.
- 2) As mentioned in our initial application, we have already been in contact with Wikimedia Taiwan and will be discussing the issue of freedom of panorama in detail. Specifics are still under discussion.
- 3)Similarly, we have also contacted and initiated a collaboration with the National Taiwan University Wiki Club. We will guide them to continue developing more creative projects in the future.
- 4)
- a) The discrepancy in the number of staff mentioned in the proposal and the budget is due to a mistake in the proposal. The calculations in the budget spreadsheet are correct.
- b) We will provide a more detailed breakdown of any vague items before the project is completed.
- c) We still hope that participants can make substantive contributions to Wikimedia, so we will continue to require participants to contribute to Wikimedia Commons during the activities. This is the reason for setting this metric.
- d) This is a completely new initiative. Given the nature of this activity, we will not be adopting the edit-a-thon format for the time being.
- Once again, thank you for your valuable questions and feedback on our project. We look forward to continuing our collaboration throughout the process.--Subscriptshoe9 (talk) 21:12, 19 October 2024 (UTC)
