The ESEAP Funds Committee is pleased to support the work of Analysis and Policy Observatory to implement the project on “The missing link-Incorporating policy reports into the free knowledge ecosystem”.
The ESEAP Funds Committee and Programme Officer sees a number of strengths in your application. This includes
- Impact potential and strategic alignment: We recognise that the project has strong alignment with Wikimedia Australia’s work plan (i.e. First Nations Reference Group) and 2030 movement goals on identifying topics for impact. The project serves as a pilot to bring together curated sources, content contributors and potentially First Nations and Pacific Island communities to bridge content gaps on wikiprojects. We also recognise key assumptions that contribute to your theory of change:
- Wikimedia community will know about and be open to using curated sources for content contribution/updates on wiki projects
- First Nations and Pacific Island communities feel welcome, are willing and able to participate
- Content contributed through edit-a-thons are culturally sensitive and reflective of the lived experiences of First Nations and Pacific Island communities
- Organisational capacity: As partners, we anticipate there will be significant cross learning and sharing between Wikimedia Australia and Analysis and Policy Observatory. This partnership could serve as an interesting case study on welcoming new partners into the movement through the Alliances Fund Programme. Your experiences in navigating and engaging with the Wikimedia ecosystem through the course of your project will provide valuable insights on how we can work together collectively to shape the experiences of future applicants.
- Learning and evaluation: With your strong background in research and evaluation, and preliminary sharing on evaluation approach and data collection tools, we look forward to reading about your assessment of these learning questions.
- Can material published by organisations be an important component of Wikimedia and the free knowledge ecosystem?
- By incorporating material published by organisations can the voices of underrepresented communities be amplified?
