Additional comments from the Committee: Love the idea of women translating material to aid in recruitment of more women and think it could be useful in increasing diversity of content through translation. Supportive of the idea of making the area where women met more appealing to women and don't think the cost is outrageous, but not clear that the lack of these things would be a barrier to getting women involved so I think this could be eliminated. Providing childcare and toys could attract more women. Although this proposal focuses on an offline environment, I think it has the potential to make an online impact. I like that the participants are thinking about how to create almost a kind of feminist hackerspace (although intended for editing Wikipedia). It would be nice to see if the meetups succeeded because of the space. I'm not sure how this would bring impact for the long term. This one is likely to be a high impact proposal if regular meetups are planned. Sustainability depends upon the enthusiasm of the first batch of participants to motivate other women to join editing events. The venue could also be of use to other free/open knowledge meetups for women. I’m not sure there is a direct connection between buying furniture and solving the gender gap problem. Monthly events are sufficient to engage a single cohort of participants. However, if the proposer is looking at managing multiple cohorts, they could plan as many as one workshop a week. In that case, there would be four groups, each group meeting up on a monthly basis. The project seems like it has a specific target community and reasonable plans to foster engagement with that community repeatedly. The time frame seems reasonable to see results. I'd like to know more about the Project Team. I like that they've been thorough with their budget! Would like to see a comparison between the state before and after the grant's funds are used; to see if such a space could be used elsewhere. Lack of realistic measures of success in assessing the impact of buying furniture. The idea of a joint initiative between WoFOSS and Wikimedia Taiwan and these women to translate materials and distribute them to women seems like a good idea, but unsure about the value of the furniture. Would encourage participants to look at existing feminist hackerspaces and learn from what has/has not worked. I very much like that they want to create a physical space that is child-friendly. Seems like a very reasonable proposal, but I would prefer that they budget for providing childcare rather than buying furniture.
