Support This is a good idea because we need to think realistically about how to attract, help and retain new users, otherwise we run the risk of becoming a community of bitter oldbies. Every project has taken its own route and some of them are more developed than others. So far I've visited about 350 projects outside the anglosphere (yes I'm a very curious person) and the general impression I've got is that there are some projects where new users don't get a welcome and are pretty much left to their own devices. I don't think it is particularly helpful to have such a haphazard approach towards new users. Even where there is a welcome, I've found a lot of them are just bots welcoming me which isn't paticularly encouraging. Much as I support specialised separate projects I think this is one area which needs more of a combined effort than being left to potentially "hundreds" of project-specific efforts.
