Idea not showing up

The idea I contributed is not showing up? Pratyeka (talk) 15:01, 3 February 2017 (UTC)

@Pratyeka: I'll be looking into this today, but for now, if you change your grant to a "draft" instead of "proposed" under the probox template, it should show up under the grant proposals section. Thanks, I JethroBT (WMF) (talk) 21:27, 3 February 2017 (UTC)
Note: I've moved your grant proposal to a draft as it is not yet completed. Let me know if I can help you finish it. Thanks, I JethroBT (WMF) (talk) 21:29, 3 February 2017 (UTC)
@Pratyeka: OK! All fixed, I can see your idea in the list, and in the grant proposal section. I JethroBT (WMF) (talk) 22:57, 3 February 2017 (UTC)
I can't see it showing up. What do you mean it is not yet completed? It's completed in my view. I don't know what more to add. Shouldn't DRAFT be changed to PROPOSED? Pratyeka (talk) 05:54, 4 February 2017 (UTC)
I tried adding PROPOSED, it's still not showing up anywhere. There is a big problem here somewhere with the code. It would be a real shame if my idea was invisible to people and didn't get funding for this reason as I do feel it's a very cost effective way to solve big problems with Commons. @Pratyeka: There's a technical issue in the way of proposed grants being shown in the grants section (pinging Jmorgan (WMF) as this is something we'll need to work on this week-- there's another category we should add, Category:Project/Proposals/Proposed to track this.) For now Pratyeka, I'm going to change it to a draft, which will allow it to appear in the grant proposals section on the landing section. I'll be leaving some questions and feedback on your proposal about improvements and suggestions later this week, so please do not change it back to proposed for now. Thanks, I JethroBT (WMF) (talk) 19:59, 6 February 2017 (UTC)
OK, it's a bit disappointing that after one week it has had such limited feedback, probably because of lack of eyeballs. :( Pratyeka (talk) 02:10, 10 February 2017 (UTC)
I remain, faithfully yours, disappointed. Pratyeka (talk) 19:59, 28 February 2017 (UTC)
@Pratyeka: Have you considered inviting communities to provide feedback on your proposal? I'd suggest inviting feedback on village pumps or community notification boards in communities you are active in, and especially on Commons. I JethroBT (WMF) (talk) 21:37, 28 February 2017 (UTC)
Unfortunately I'm not active here and don't have time for politicking... I run three companies and have a 2 year old. This is just something worth fixing. Right now I feel like I wasted my time describing the problem and solution and next time won't bother. Considering it's literally stopping me alone uploading tends of hours of unique historical footage from all over the world, in aggregate this must be preventing a huge amount of amazing content from being seen and preserved, and thus truly deserves attention and resolution. Perhaps you would be able to take up the cause on my behalf. Pratyeka (talk) 00:47, 1 March 2017 (UTC)
@Pratyeka: I understand that we're all volunteers and have lives outside of Wikimedia. (I'm also going to be a father myself soon). In my capacity as a volunteer on en.wiki, there are a lot of problems I see that I don't have time or skills to fix and it's frustrating.
The issue with videos has persisted a long time. There's a lot of history there in past community discussions you may or may not not be aware of; brion can certainly speak to that history. One factor with getting proposals moving generally is gathering community support (which I believe is different from politicking). There needs to be some indication that this change is something the community wants. Gathering that feedback, revising your proposal accordingly, identifying collaborators, and creating a project plan are all things I can help you out with, but I can't champion or lead ideas. For one, Wikimedia Foundation staff aren't permitted to assert local project policy-- volunteers are more than capable of shaping that on their own. In addition, there are 60+ ideas submitted in this campaign on outreach to outside institutions, and I don't have capacity to advise on all of them (let alone take ownership of all them). I don't want you to feel like you wasted your time, but I also want to be clear that getting your idea out there is just the first step. I think this idea has potential (it seems to me that aspects of it resonate with brion too). The next steps of gathering feedback and consensus on your proposal are not a race, and if you're willing to work on these tasks over time, we should talk more about what I can do to you help you.
