Grants talk:IdeaLab/End Sexism and Intolerance on Wikipedia
Added a category, would love to hear more
editHi Daniellagreen! Thanks for submitting your idea. I've just added Category:IdeaLab/Ideas/Online community organizing to it. I'd love to hear more about the practical steps you'd like to take (or for others to take) towards this goal. You might also be interested in Grants:IdeaLab/Gender-gap admin training which seems related in some ways. --Skud (WMF) (talk) 22:57, 10 March 2015 (UTC)
Daniellagreen, thanks for writing this! I've never been harassed, but some of the things I read on the discussion boards make me very nervous about participating too much. My strategy is to not spend too much time here and focus on writing mechanics and topics where my credentials are pretty strong. Oh and cite the hell out of everything. Do you have a plan of action in mind? I like some of the mentoring projects I've seen, because mentors could mean potential allies or at least people who have some interest in hearing about our experiences. What about researching gender discrimination behavior, identifying patterns and coming up with a set of suggestions for admins? Or providing a forum for women to share their experiences? --Xttina.Garnet (talk) 14:29, 24 March 2015 (UTC)
Similar Projects
editThere are two other projects that seem to be consistent with the goals of this project. First there is the Grants:IdeaLab/Centralised harassment reporting and referral service, which seems to have a lot of support. Second is Grants:IdeaLab/Reveal the Numbers Behind Edits to Increase NPOV Transparency, which has less support and could be hard to implement. Grants:IdeaLab/Gender-gap admin training is well designed and has a lot of support. --Xttina.Garnet (talk) 17:47, 24 March 2015 (UTC)
