editDear Maximilianklein,
Thank you for this thorough Final Report on the Wikipedia Gender Index. It's been fascinating to review the WIGI website and to read about your process in building it. It I'm accepting this report with the following comments:
- Many congratulations on completing the WIGI website. It is a lovely contribution to our movement's ability to see and understand its blind spots around whose knowledge we are, and aren't representing. It's great to hear about the positive feedback you've gotten from users making use of your tool.
- So excited to hear how much traffic your tool is generating! Wow! You've exceeded your pageviews several times over--and your data download targets by a landslide. I'm curious to know if you have ideas about further opportunities to promote re-use of the dataset. It makes sense that this was thrown off track by the loss of your contractor. Is there any way to recapture the lost opportunity? Would there be value in talking about a small renewal project with funding to implement further community engagement strategies? Even if you yourself don't have the bandwidth to manage it, perhaps there might be someone else that would take this on if we could sketch out a scope of work.
- Though it's hard to measure how your website is impacting editor motivation, the tie you've cited to the Women in Red WikiProject suggests that your site has the potential to have real traction. I'm curious how they, or other similar initiatives, are or could make use of your work in terms of dashboards or workflow processes. Are you aware of any specific methods being used to take advantage of your website in terms of motivating volunteers to create new non-male biographies? If so, this might be something that could be made into a learning pattern that I could share out among the many community members interested in this issue. This seems to me to be a promising route to sustainable engagement with your product.
Our grants administrator will be in touch with you with any further housekeeping tasks in regard to closing out this grant, as needed.
Thank you so much for your work on this took, Max!
Warm regards,

- Hi Mjohnson (WMF). Thanks for the feedback. Concerning re-use and usefulness, actually I am in talks with Women in Red about potentially making a "dashboard" or at least weekly "report" derived from WHGI that would become their "metrics" which has been a point of difficulty for them to compile. I think that path would be the way to sustainable engagement. Maximilianklein (talk) 12:25, 30 June 2016 (UTC)
- Maximilianklein, so glad to hear this. Yes, this does sound like an ideal path. Would love to hear how this turns out. Please keep me in the loop! Best, --Marti (WMF) (talk) 13:33, 30 June 2016 (UTC)
