examples of growth conferences

Are there any examples of growth conferences that have been supported? -- Zblace (talk) 11:08, 9 February 2024 (UTC) Soft reminder with a ping to @CAlmog and WMF conference team...Zblace (talk) 11:30, 15 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Zblace, Growth events are mostly events that are not Regional or big scale Thematic events. They are more focused on new initiatives (a few examples from the very last round are Climate Justice meet up, or the WikiOutdoor Training); New coalitions and collaborations between groups (from the last round - such as the initiative to bring all the Nigerian sub communities and groups together for the WikiConference Nigeria); and also events that allow smaller scale communities to strategize, build their group structor and capacity for the first time where we believe there is a momentum, potential impact for growth, community need and capacity to organize (such as Bangla WikiConference); or to elevate and scale up an idea or initiative that can grow their community of contributors (such as the Wiki Student Summit). All of those examples are just from the last round, but there are Growth events being approved in every single Conference Funding round. You can view all the approved proposals over the years here and Il'l be happy to refer to you to more examples if you wish. I hope this was helpful.
