Goals edit

Did you meet your goals?

Part of our goals was to recruit new editors, increase skills for existing editors, and to add/improve content. In the course of this project we recruited 3 new editors who were trained on how to upload images to commons. Existing editors improved on their photography and image uploading skills, as well as how to effectively navigate Wikimedia commons for images already uploaded. Also, through this project we were able to add pictorial story of Lagwa Monkey Colony, its state of animal habitat, and how Lagwa community relate with the monkeys on Wikimedia commons.

Are you happy with how the project went?

Having concluded the two phases of the project; photo walk and Edith-a-thon, we are excited the project went as planned.

Learning edit

Projects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:

  • What worked well? The edithaton was on point as every every arrangement made prior to the day was successful.
  • What did not work so well? The delay with the proposal review and funding affected our community planning, communication and engagement resulting in less success story that we would have had. Taking pictures of some of the monkeys, as few went up high trees to stay on sighting strangers. Also, the available funds (ceiling amount) were not enough to cover necessities such as communication materials and T-shirts for participants among others given the nature of the event.
  • What would you do differently next time? Secure timely funding to enable us have early planning that will help to get a local who will make our targets available for photo ops.
