Activities edit

Tell us how you'll carry out your project. Be sure to answer the following questions:

1. Are you doing one editathon or training or a series of editathons or trainings?

It’s a two day event and an edit-a-thon contest

Day 1 (Training and Introduction to Wikidata): Participants will be introduced to wikidata, and the training process involves knowing how to edit wikidata, creates new items, and add statements to existing items, how to create a better wikidata item with quality information, and how to link data items with one another. After which participants will engage in an edit-a-thon to practice on what they have learnt during the training.

Day 2 (Wikidata birthday celebrations): the activity of the day entails the celebration of wikidata during the event, all experienced editors in the fan club will get to share their experiences on how they started contributing to wikidata and wikimedia in general. To encourage new participants and club members to contribute active

This would be an official kick off of a contest where participants will win prizes.

Edit-a-thon contest: This will start after the day 2 and participants will get to put into application what they have learnt during the two day event.

2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You are required to provide links to on-wiki pages to inform these communities about your proposed work. Examples of places where this can be done include community discussion pages, affiliate discussion pages, or relevant project talk pages.
You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.

I have informed the Wikimedia Nigeria about my application on behalf of the fan club via the meta page

3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.

We will be using the fan club WhatsApp group to inform community members about the events and also will be using Flyers and partnership with Class Representatives & Students' Executives to help disseminate the information across to serve as medium to communicate to those who are not part of the community, but interested in joining about the events. We would also make use of emails and text messages to communicate directly with them.

4. Do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead the event? Please provide links to the usernames of these individuals. (NOTE: all experienced Wikimedia editors MUST endorse your proposal as proof of availability)
For example: User:Kaizenify

User: favourdare123 President

User: Taofeeq Abdulkareem Vice President

5. Do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute high quality content? If not, how will you support them?

They have devices that are Internet connectable such as smart phones, tablets, and laptops to effectively connect and practice what they have learnt.

6. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?

New editors would joined the fan club and automatically become members of the community while existing editors will be re-energised into participating in Wikimedia Projects. We would continuously engage them through the events we have in the Fan Club and also expose them to other Wiki communities and events.
