  • This project will promote wikipedia project in Kaduna Polytechnic especially in two departments (Department of Languages (Hausa Language) [[1]]/Mass Communication), it will also guide the students on how to utilize wikipedia pages and put them through on easy research on their studies. And it will help them to increase more content in wiktionary page.

Kaduna Polytechnic is a Federal Polytechnic with thousands of students and has different sciences, technology and arts departments. It is located at Tudun/Wada Kaduna state, Nigeria. This project will focus on Department of Hausa Language and Mass Communication. You can read more about Kaduna Polytechnic [[2]].

1. Are you doing one editathon or training or a series of editathons or trainings?

Yes. am going to run one editathon training since i recently promote wikipedia at Kaduna polytechnic [[3]], then i will like to use this opportunity to teach those participant wiktionary throught this project.

2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You are required to provide links to on-wiki pages to inform these communities about your proposed work. Examples of places where this can be done include community discussion pages, affiliate discussion pages, or relevant project talk pages.
You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.

Their have been social media groups we have been using to inform our community members on all wikipedia activitikes. they:

And physically by using flyers. 3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?

yes I have experience editors that will be the facilitators during the event:

5. Do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute high quality content? If not, how will you support them?

Since most all the participants are students, they have smart phones but i will prefer to user laptop computers to have consistent event.

6. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?

I will engage the participants after the event by motivating the to keep on contributing in the kiktionary page via social media handles

7. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?

Yes, this project is so considerable because it will implement so many potential impacts to Kadpoly students in terms of wikipedia activities and their studies.

  • Computer Lab- N50,000 for 2 days

  • Book:
  1. Hausa Pocket Dictionary (Qamusu) (For words meaning): 600 x 18 = 10,800

  • Use of internet - N5 x 2 = N10,000 for two days

  • T-shirts - for 5 facilitators = N3500 x 5 (5 facilitators) = N17500


  • Transportation (facilitation movements) - N4000 x 2 = N8000

  • Banner and Tags - N17000
