Activities

edit

Tell us how you'll carry out your project. Be sure to answer the following questions:

1. Are you doing one editathon or training or a series of editathons or trainings?

The project will involve a combination of online training and physical workshops to create a comprehensive learning experience. The online training will span two days and will focus on engaging participants, informing them about the upcoming physical events, and assisting them in creating Wikipedia accounts. Following this, there will be two days of physical workshops dedicated to an edit-a-thon aimed at enhancing Special Pages on Wikipedia. The edit-a-thon will provide hands-on experience for participants to improve Wikipedia content while engaging them in the editing process. The final edit-a-thon session will also involve interactive engagement activities to ensure participants are motivated and involved throughout the entirety of the project.

2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You are required to provide links to on-wiki pages to inform these communities about your proposed work. Examples of places where this can be done include community discussion pages, affiliate discussion pages, or relevant project talk pages.
You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.

I have shared in Hausa Wikipedia Discussion page and also in Hausa Community General WhatsApp Group

3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.

Participants will be informed about the edit a thon through various communication channels such as WhatsApp Groups, Facebook and Mouth Discussion.

4. Do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead the event? Please provide links to the usernames of these individuals. (NOTE: all experienced Wikimedia editors MUST endorse your proposal as proof of availability)
For example: User:Kaizenify

User:Hauwau sulaiman

5. Do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute high quality content? If not, how will you support them?

The participants do have Smartphones while others have laptops

6. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?

I will create a WhatsApp Group for the community

7. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?

This project builds on the success of the Gwanki project to improve Wikipedia awareness and editing skills in Hadejia. Experienced editors will mentor new participants, encouraging collaboration. Through training sessions and hands-on editing events, the project aims to empower people to contribute to Wikipedia. Ultimately, it seeks to strengthen the Wikipedia community in Hadejia and inspire a passion for sharing knowledge.
