Proposed participation
editAs a board member & secretary of Wikimedia India (WMIN), my aim is to focus on spreading word about the wikimedia movement. Gender Gap is a very important Point of Focus for WMIN & WMF alike.International Network of Women Engineers and Scientists (INWES) is conducting a conference from 5th-7th October 2017 & they have invited WMIN to conduct an 2 day Workshop & editathon. I will be conducting the editathon at the conference.
Goal and expected impact
editThis conference will primarily consist of Woman attendees & the focus of the editathon will be to edit articles on Women engineers & scientists in India. With Gender Gap one of the main focus points for WMF, this conference will create a huge opportunity for bridging the gap in India
- All the participants will have their accounts created on Wikipedia & at least 1 edit will be done by them
- All participants will attempt to create an article on Women engineers & scientists in India. This will be done on an individual level or as a group activity
- The conference will see participants come from all the major cities in India, which is the best opportunity to encourage them to edit on Wikipedia especially related to Women Scientists & Engineers
- Follow up with the participants after the conference to encourage them to further contribute to Wikipedia
