OutcomeEdit

Meetup in Caracas (Universidad Simón Bolívar) to talk about the outcomes of Wikimania 2016
Option 1: Shared Experience: What is one way you shared something from your experience with your community (either locally or globally), after the event?
Add a link here to a blog post or newsletter you wrote about your participation afterwards, or to a meet-up you organized to share your experience with your local community.

Being the sole representative from Venezuela and Wikimedia Venezuela (WMVE), I decided to share my occurrences live through social media, particularly Twitter (in Spanish and English). See the timeline in this storify story. I'd also like to mention the public Telegram channel of Wikimedia Venezuela, which was used to communicate and share my experiences during Wikimania with other members of my community, in real time.

After the conference, I held a brief meeting open to volunteers on July 7th explaining my experience in Wikimania and how this kinds of events are important to the community, in order to incentivize more participation from volunteers of Venezuela in future Wikimanias.

ConnectionsEdit

As one of the organizers of the Iberocoop meeting, I was able to meet again with colleagues from the initiative and welcome others to join, it was a fruitful meeting with a map road of commons objectives to accomplish, including a new conference summit for Iberocoop later this year.

I joined the WikiMujeres wikiproject in the Spanish Wikipedia as a result of the interaction with Jaluj, Mboix and Tipuni during Wikimania, not only is the gender-gap a structural issue in the movement, but a personal concern in my country.

I had an interview with Kalliope (WMF) about harassment in the movement, and as result I proposed the board of WMVE the creation of a code of conduct to establish a safe environment for the members and volunteers of the chapter.

I had a meeting with EGalvez (WMF) to finish a survey initially planned to tackle the lack of awareness of the wiki movement in Venezuela, among others objectives. As a result of the talk ‘How the French Wiktionary became a grown-up project’, alongside with B25es and Rodelar from Wikimedia Spain (WMES) we started the talks to do a major project to improve the Spanish Wiktionary.

I had a meeting with Pharos (WMNY), ProtoplasmaKid (WMMX) and Millars (WMES) to organize a major edit-a-thon later this year called WikiArte with the backing of Fundación Cisneros and Colección Patricia Phelps de Cisneros (CPPC).

I had a meeting with Jorge Vargas (WMF) to chat about the challenges and possibilities of partnerships of Wikimedia chapters with private and public enterprises in the region, been Jorge from Colombia, we discussed the status of the UG and common projects of Colombia and Venezuela, for example the Wayuunaiki Wikipedia.

I talked with Amir Sarabadini about the status of the learning machines models project in the Spanish Wikipedia, and the necessity of more volunteers in order to achieve the goals for this project. See the phabricator task for more info.
