Grants:TPS/Magioladitis/SheSharp
This Wikimedia Participation Support request was funded in the fiscal year 2014-15. A report is available.
Proposed participation
editI am a highly active Wikipedian and I recently started giving talks to raise awareness on gender gap in Wikipedia. I have an invitation to participate as a keynote speaker in 2nd Wikipedia Edit-a-thon organised by SheSharp in Thessaloniki. SheSharp focuses on women's evolvement with technology and has connections with Wikimedia Community User Group.
Goal and expected impact
editAs a result of my talk, everyone in the audience will become aware of Wikipedia guidelines and basic notions. Moreover, they will get an idea of how to write in a gender neutral way, how and which female topics are in need of new articles on both Greek Wikipedia. It will also strengthen ties between Wikimedia Community User Group and Shesharp.
Budget breakdown

- Accommodation: 0 Euros (I have a place to stay overnight)
IncidentalsCity bus tickets: 20 Euros (see discussion page for details)

edit- Magioladitis' involvement in the presentation and editathon with the SheSharp team will be a key to the success in the activity. Marios has studied the gender gap and his participation will be beneficial as he can give his own input but also the input from the female participants will be included in the research about the gender gap in Wikipedia in Greece (which is wider compared with other countries). - I definitely endorse Marios 's participation in 2nd Wikipedia Edithon organised by SheSharp in Thessaloniki. Marios apart from a long term contributor and programmer is also quite aware about gender gap issues in Wikipedia. He recently gave a talk about the participation of women in Wikipedia in Athens and I think that there is not a more fitting person to present the subject and mostly to attract female newcomers in the world of Wikipedia. --Γλαύκος (talk) 01:25, 20 April 2016 (UTC)
