Learning edit

Projects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:

  • What worked well?

We can state that we have succeeded in organizing the trip to some working places in Alexandria. Thirty-six photographers from different photography clubs in Egypt have joined the trip and the photo walk. We visited the boats' workshop, the fishery markets and different places in Alexandria. We also have succeeded in organizing the workshop in the Greek Campus. we covered the following several subjects;

  1. General definitions for Wikipedia and its sisters' projects
  2. A comprehensive definition of the contest "Wiki Loves Africa" and its activities in Egypt.
  3. Different techniques for uploading photo and media on Wiki Commons.
  4. Lessons learned from previous Wiki contests
  5. A distinguished and special lecture on the art of photography by Photographer/ Nader El Assi to engage viewers

Also, Our groups have kindly appreciated the guests and gave a certificate to the presenter/ Nader Elassi for his special participation in the workshop

  • We, also, have succeeded to celebrate with the winners. We invited them to come and receive their prizes;
  • What did not work so well?
  1. Judging the photos and declaring the first ten winners were not easy. We have hosted two professional photography clubs who really participated in the contest. We as organizers were keen to find other professional judges who are not related to those groups. thus, the judging period hasn't finished yet but it's expected to be declared in the first half of January.
  • What would you do differently next time?

We were happy to gather huge numbers of participants within the trip and the workshop. We want to develop more interesting collaborations with photography clubs in the next times.
