Project Plan
editActivities
editTell us how you'll carry out your project. Be sure to answer the following questions:
1. What content will the contest focus on, and why is it important to your community?
- The contest will focus on adding photos of natural scenic landscapes and preserved natural heritage sites and their content. This is because people struggle to get photos of the sites when creating articles about natural heritage sites and because of changes brought by the environmental changes, these photos will be of value in the future in terms of documenting the history of our natural heritage.
2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You are required to provide links to on-wiki pages to inform these communities about your proposed work. Examples of places where this can be done include community discussion pages, affiliate discussion pages, or relevant project talk pages.
You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.
- We have an official page of Wiki Loves Earth Tanzania on Facebook and we also have an official Facebook page for the Wikimedia Tanzania Community user group where we share the detail about the contest to the community. Links to the pages Wiki Loves Earth Tanzania page Wikimedia Community User group page. And we also have Telegram group for the active members where we also share whatever is happening to the community.
3. How will you let participants know about the contest? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.
- We let new participants know about the contest through targeted social media posts, through word of mouth from active Wikimedia community members and we will also conduct online gathering to inform the community about the contest. Here are link to our social media pages Links to the pages Wiki Loves Earth Tanzania page Wikimedia Community User group page. And we also have Telegram group for the active members where we also share whatever is happening to the community. And we encourage active members to share the news to their friends through WhatsApp and other messaging platforms.
4. How will you judge the contest and award prizes?
Note: Grantees, judges, and other contest leaders are ineligible to receive prizes. Grantees who are serving as judges may not receive gifts through grant funding.
- We will setup a jury to judge the contest in collaboration with the global WLE organising team and we will follow the guidelines in the process.
5. For photo contests, what is the strategy to get images used on projects?
- We will engage editors to inform them of the availability of the photos to make sure the photos are used in articles.
6. Are you running any in-person events or activities? If so, you will need to complete the steps outlined on the Risk Assessment protocol related to COVID-19. When you have completed these steps, please provide a link to your completed copy of the risk assessment tool below:
- Link to completed assessment Completed Risk assesment
7. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?
- The past WLE contest helped us inform the government that we can use Wikimedia projects to inform the world about our natural reserves and attract tourism after one of the photos from Tanzania made it to the global top 15. We believe this initiative will help us make our country's natural heritage known to more people through photos that will be collected and through the articles that will use the photos
