Project Plan edit

Activities edit

Tell us how you'll carry out your project. Be sure to answer the following questions:

1. What content will the contest focus on, and why is it important to your community?

The contest will focus on pictures of natural protected areas and natural monuments in Tunisia . We have a list of protected areas . The amount of freely licensed photos of natural monuments in Tunisia is still low and as time goes by the accessibility and state of the monuments deteriorates due to loop-holes in nature preservation legislation. Prizes are important for the Wiki Loves initiatives because this helps us to gain the trust of participants and continue to engage them in the future.

2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You are required to provide links to on-wiki pages to inform these communities about your proposed work. Examples of places where this can be done include community discussion pages, affiliate discussion pages, or relevant project talk pages.

You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.

Based on observations from previous contests:

  • The most important way to advertise the contest will be central notice banner arranged by the international team.
  • Communication through our social media accounts, mostly Facebook
  • Posting announcements in local photo and tourism related Facebook groups (quite effective), forums and sites.
  • Writing a press release before and after the contest.

3. How will you let participants know about the contest? In what ways will you be communicating with them?

For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.

The participants will know about the contest via:
Social media:
Wiki Loves Earth Community group in Facebook
Mailing lists:
Wikimedia TN user groups
Wiki Loves Earth
Wikiar-I

4. How will you judge the contest and award prizes?

Note: Grantees, judges, and other contest leaders are ineligible to receive prizes. Grantees who are serving as judges may not receive gifts through grant funding.

The jury will consist of 4-5 people from mixed backgrounds and will judge photos in several rounds.

5. For photo contests, what is the strategy to get images used on projects?

The participants will be taught how to properly use the contributions on Wikimedia projects such as Wikimedia commons and Wikipedia articles.

The object lists contain links to already existing articles on the topic. The community will be encouraged to create articles about the missing topics. Social media will be used to promote quality images without an article on the topic.

6. Are you running any in-person events or activities? If so, you will need to complete the steps outlined on the Risk Assessment protocol related to COVID-19. When you have completed these steps, please provide a link to your completed copy of the risk assessment tool below:

Yes, we will organize four photo-walks with photographers. For the protocol related to Covid-19 we will respect all considerations for enhancing protection of the participants and preventing spread of coronavirus disease. The number of participants for each photo-walk will not exceed nine. For the safety of the participants, we will provide a medical mask and hydro-alcoholic gels for each one.Physical distancing will be applied too.
