Goals
editDid you meet your goals? Are you happy with how the project went?
The goal of adding & improving content was achieved. I am happy with how the project went.
Outcome
editPlease report on your original project targets. Please be sure to review and provide metrics required for Rapid Grants.
Target outcome | Achieved outcome | Explanation |
20 participants in photos, 3 participants in articles | 68 participants in photos, 3 participants in articles | The target was reached, because of extensive promotion in news outlets, social networks & through the Central Notice. |
N/A | 44 newly registered users | The extensive promotion online helped reach this fruitful outcome. |
300 photos, 100 photos in articles & 12 new articles | 516 photos, 56 photos in articles & 11 new articles | The first target was reached, as contest in Belarus was prolonged from June to July. The 2nd target was not reached, because of lack of corresponding articles. The 3rd target was closely missed, as: 1) the emphasis on articles was lacking in promoting, 2) there were no prizes for articles, 3) the winners in Wikimedia CEE Spring contest took a summer break in editing. |
Learning
editProjects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:
- What worked well?
Promoting the main target of uplouding photos & the jury worked well.
- What did not work so well?
The creation of new articles did not work so well. In its turn, the use of uploaded photos also lagged.
- What would you do differently next time?
I would promote article creation extensively. The prize for articles would also help.

Remaining funds
editDo you have any remaining grant funds?
I have the remaining grant funds for a possible income tax. The tax rate is 13 %. The non-salary tax is collected on a yearly basis & is due in spring, 2021. If those funds won't be taxed, I would like to use them as an award for creating articles about protected areas of Belarus during the "Wiki Loves Earth 2021".
Anything else
editAnything else you want to share about your project?
I want to thank User:AnastasiaPetrova (WMUA) for her support throughout the "WLE 2020" contest, including promotion on Wikimedia Commons & thoughtful recommendations at every step forward. Both jury members User:Kazimier Lachnovič & User:Renessaince also provided me with enormous help.
The links to all 10 winning photos for the international round of the contest are at commons:Commons:Wiki Loves Earth 2020/Winners#Belarus. Three of those by different photographs were awarded prizes in the local round for the 1st, the 2nd & the 3rd places, according to the choise of the jury.
