Goals edit

Did you meet your goals? Are you happy with how the project went?

Our main goals were to elevate participation in this year's contest of Wiki Loves Monuments in the four countries of the Levant, as well as to to provide more value for the participating photos by adding them to Wiki Projects and such. The first goal was fairly successful as illustrated by nearly a thousand photos added to Wikimedia Commons for many monuments that had no prior coverage on Wikimedia sites. The second goal, though, achieved a huge success through the outstanding media exposure and publicity we had due to one of local winner photos being awarded the second place in the entire international competition of Wiki Loves Monuments: an unprecedented achievement for any local contest from the MENA region.

Learning edit

Projects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:

  • What worked well?
Jointly holding the competition in the 4 countries at once
The good photo quality, including the photo winning second place in the international competition
  • What did not work so well?
The mediocre participation
  • What would you do differently next time?
Focus more on advertising the competition ahead of time to increase participation
