Goals

edit

Did you meet your goals? Are you happy with how the project went?

  • No, due to covid mostly people went into panic mode and we had multiple lockdown so not much therefore we could'nt meet the target.

Outcome

edit

Please report on your original project targets. Please be sure to review and provide metrics required for Rapid Grants.

Target outcome Achieved outcome Explanation
350 137 images and about 13 participants who entered the competition Most participants did not understand how wide the theme was so they limited themselves to not capture so many images as they doubted themselves a lot and the quality of their images when uploading .

We had random lockdowns and strict Covid regulations in the country so happening so this played a major role in having such a low outcome of images captured hence people were hesitant to capture images in areas such as health facilities.

Learning

edit

Projects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:

  • What worked well?
    • One photowalk was possible this helped give motivation to the participants to capture images.
    • Calling and reminding them to come for the uploading sessions.
    • Social media campaigning about Wiki Loves Africa project
    • Assisted those who wanted to upload images with Airtime/Data bundles to upload individually due to lock down restrictions.
  • What did not work so well?
    • Participants had hard time understanding how to join Google hangouts / Zoom calls
    • Poor internet connection
    • We had multiple lock downs happening hence this limited the movements for participants who wanted to attend photo walks and upload images in the lab.
  • What would you do differently next time?
    • Create how to guides on how to join call
    • Use more social media / or have a Facebook live presentation on how to enter the competition so that those who missed the session can always revisit
    • Try a different University to host Wiki Loves Africa to expand reach.
