Goals

edit

Did you meet your goals? Are you happy with how the project went?

We are happy with how the edit-a-thon went. The majority of our editors or relatively inexperienced with editing Wikipedia.

We met our goal of improving content relating to women/Indigenous communities by creating five new pages relating to Indigenous women and edited a number of existing pages.

We also received positive media coverage of our event locally.

Outcome

Please report on your original project targets.

20 articles worked on 24 participants 4 five new articles, 20 existing articles contributed to, see our event dashboard for more details. [1]

Learning

edit

Projects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:

  • What worked well? Partnering with the university worked well as they provided the space and staff who were experienced in doing research and creating citations. Our editing training session was well received and there was a great sense of comraddery and skill building at the event. The Art + Feminism training material was really helpful when we were putting together our introduction to Wikipedia session.
  • What did not work so well? The majority of our participants were first time editors. We offered as much one-on-one or peer support as possible, but it would be helpful to have more established editors present.
  • What would you do differently next time? We would utilize funding to pay for childcare. We had a couple of folks attend with children and would be great to make the space more open to those with small kids.

Finances

edit

Grant funds spent

edit
  1. Food and Drink = $150
  2. Printing and advertising = $50

Remaining funds

edit

Do you have any remaining grant funds?

No, we used all of the allotted funds and our partners contributed in-kind support.

Anything else

edit

This was a great event and we are looking at the feasibility of holding more regular edit-a-thons as a way of keeping the momentum going and to build more of a local editing community.
