Activities

edit

Tell us how you'll carry out your project. Be sure to answer the following questions:

1. Are you doing one editathon or training or a series of editathons or trainings?

Jisonaayili Community Library wiki Hub is a new Wikipedia group focused on arrousing the interest of youth(both female and male) to contribute to Wikipedia and its sister projects. The Wiki Hub has a few experienced Wikimedians and majority of the membership are yet to sign up onto Wikipedia. The following will be done during the training sessions:
  • Registration of new editors.
  • We are going to have 3 training sessions and 1 editathon to practice what has been learnt during the training sessions.
  • We will practice by creating Wikidata items for Dagbani books. This, when done will push up the existence of Dagbani language literature on the internet. This is a link to the books that we will be working on.

2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You are required to provide links to on-wiki pages to inform these communities about your proposed work. Examples of places where this can be done include community discussion pages, affiliate discussion pages, or relevant project talk pages.
You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.

Its going to be posted on mailing lists of Dagbani wikimedians User Group.

3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.

Participants will be contacted using the Telegram group.

4. Do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead the event? Please provide links to the usernames of these individuals.
For example: User:I JethroBT

User:Chirifo
User:Hidrash

5. Do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute high quality content? If not, how will you support them?

Yes, participants have the equipments and few of them have the needed skills to take part in project. This will be the first time most of the participants will experience skills in Wikipedia training, at the end of the training participants will be well equipped with the necessary skills to contribute to Wikipedia.

6. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?

Participants will be kept active via the telegram group where participants will be guided to contribute more to Wikipedia.

7. Are you running any in-person events or activities? If so, you will need to complete the steps outlined on the Risk Assessment protocol related to COVID-19. When you have completed these steps, please provide a link to your completed copy of the risk assessment tool below:

Yes, Link to Covid-19 Risk Assessment Tool.

This is a newly established Wiki Hub and prior discussions to the establishment of the hub show positive sign of progress when members are taken through Wikipedia and its projects.
