Grants:Project/Rapid/Hackathon 2022/Greece Ionian University
Project Goal
editBriefly explain what are you trying to accomplish with this project, or what do you expect will change as a result of this grant. Example goals include, "recruit new editors", "add high quality content", or "train existing editors on a specific skill".
The main scope of this pre-hackathon workshop in Corfu is to reach out to new developers and turn them into regular contributors as well as to strengthen community. We welcome developers, humanists and academics to attend.
One main topic of our pre-hackathon is to prepare attendees for a data challenge entitled “Corfu and the United States of the Ionian Islands”.
Specifically we aim to:
- recruit new editors inviting them to participate in a local pre-hackathon workshop and the Wikimedia Hackathon 2022
- train existing and new editors in a)the Wikimedia Phabricator, b)the SPARQL query language and Wikidata Query Service and c)the PAWS/Jupyter notebooks for Python beginners
