Project Plan edit

Activities edit

Tell us how you'll carry out your project. What will you and other organizers spend your time doing?

We will host a webinar with prominent guests on Human Rights and the Environment, focused on how they are related to free knowledge and how people and communities can use it to advocate for the fundamental right to a healthy environment.

How will you let others in your community know about your project (please provide links to where relevant communities have been notified of your proposal, and to any other relevant community discussions)? Why are you targeting a specific audience?

Via Mailing list (wikimedia-l), social media and a post on Diff

What will you have done at the end of your project? How will you follow-up with people that are involved with your project?

At the end of the project, Spanish-speaking participants will have had the opportunity to learn from prominent figures in Human Rights and the Environment, aided by a format that lowers the accessibility barrier by providing content in several languages. The ideas so discussed will hopefully aid participants in not just improving coverage of Human Rights and the Environment across the Wikimedia projects, but also in their home communities.

Are you running any in-person events or activities? If so, you will need to complete the steps outlined on the Risk Assessment protocol related to COVID-19. When you have completed these steps, please provide a link to your completed copy of the risk assessment tool below:

The webinar, as its name suggests, will be hosted entirely online and will not need for multiple people gathering in one single physical location.

Impact edit

How will you know if the project is successful and you've met your goals? Please include the following targets and feel free to add more specific to your project:

  1. Number of total participants
  2. Number of articles created or improved (if applicable)
  3. Number of photos uploaded to Wikimedia Commons (if applicable)
  4. Number of photos used on Wikimedia projects (if applicable)

Resources edit

What resources do you have? Include information on who is the organizing the project, what they will do, and if you will receive support from anywhere else (in-kind donations or additional funding).

Physical equipment for attending the call is already in place, including semi-professional headphones and microphone.
The event itself is a joint effort by The Wikimedia Foundation, UN Environment Programme, and UN Human Rights. On behalf of the WikiForHumanRights camapign, the event is facilitated by Michel BAKNI.

What resources do you need? For your funding request, list bullet points for each expense:

The budget is calculated in number of hours times a fixed rate of 590 MXN/hour (average price for a similar role).
  • The event itself is scheduled to last for two hours,
  • A briefing and technical testing session before the event is scheduled and expected to last no more than half an hour,
  • One half hour is budgeted, for unexpected troubles that might arise.
Given that the event is relatively straightforward in scope and complexity, there's no expectation of significantly more work than the one detailed above, putting the total estimated time at 3 hours, with a total budget of 3 hours * 590 MXN = 1770 MXN (~90 USD)
