Project Plan edit

Activities edit

  1. What kind of event(s) or activities are you planning to hold for your Wikipedia 20 event? Please let us know if these events include a meetup, edit-a-thons, workshops, photowalks, contests, or any kind of campaign.

For the 20th anniversary of Wikipedia we are planning to organize a multi-city online edit-a-thon focused on the people related to the LGBTQIA+ art – artists, curators, researchers etc. The event, hosted by the Caryatid Collective, will take place on the January 16th, 2021 and it will be a conglomerate of events co-organized with local working groups established for the purpose of this event. We are expecting to have the maximum of 10 groups in cities like: Wrocław, Warsaw, Kraków, Szczecin, Lublin, Opole, Łódź, Katowice, Poznań, Gdańsk. Each group is expected to count from 5 to 10 participants, so there will be the maximum of 100 participants in total. In each city there will be a person or a group of individuals invited to coordinate the event. Also a partner institution/organization will be invited to support it, like ZŁOTY KIOSK (Wrocław), local_30 (Warsaw), Muzeum Sztuki (Łódź), Galeria Sztuki Współczesnej (Opole) or Instytut Korfantego (Katowice). Together, we will create a list of suggested articles and prepare the necessary source materials to be shared with the participants. The Caryatid Collective will provide all the local groups with the organizational and promotional framework, graphic design, prints and food, as well as the necessary training during an online editing workshop in a week of advance. We will also provide all the edit-a-thon's participants with the necessary technical support on the event's day and consult articles until the end of February. The due date for the finished articles will be February 14th, 2021. In the week before the event there will be an online public lecture on the LGBTQIA+ art by an invited guest lecturer, translated into Polish Sign Language (PJM) and published in Commons.

  1. If participants will be contributing to Wikimedia projects (such as in an edit-a-thon), do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead the event? (If you are not doing this kind of event, please write N/A or leave the section below blank)

We are experienced both in organizing edith-a-tons (the list can be seen at https://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikiprojekt:GLAM/Kolektyw_Kariatyda/Wydarzenia) and training in editing Wikipedia and Commons.

  1. If participants will be contributing to Wikimedia projects (such as in an edit-a-thon), do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute high quality content? If not, how will you support them? (If you are not doing this kind of event, please write N/A or leave the section below blank)

All the participants will work with their private equipment (computers, internet). The participants that have already collaborated with the Caryatid Collective are trained in editing and can provide high quality content. Newbies will be provided with a dedicated online workshop as well as prerecorded training materials. Also, we will provide all the edit-a-thon's participants with the necessary technical support on the event's day and consult articles until the end of the following month. A list of suggested articles together with a selection of source materials will be provided.

  1. How will you promote and let participants know about your Wikipedia 20 event? Please describe or link to the spaces you will be using to inform your community about your activities. Please note there are resources available to support your communications for Wikipedia 20 events.

Participants will be able to find out information about the events thanks to the Caryatid Collective's social media: facebook and instagram and our page in Wikipedia. There will also be a promotional support via the channels of the Polish Wikimedia Association (bulletin, mailing list, social media). We are going to distribute electronic posters via emails with invitations. We will publish information in media like: Wroclawianin.info, Wroclaw.pl, Co jest grane, Gazeta Wrocławska, Radio Wrocław, Magazyn Miasto Kobiet, Arteon, Artpunkt, Dwutygodnik, Obieg, Magazyn Sztuki, ArsForum, Codzienniki Feministyczne, Fundacja Feminoteka, Fundacja Kobieca eFKa. Local grups will be asked to promote their events accordingly, using local media.

  1. How will you keep participants engaged after the event is over? How will you be sharing photos, videos, or other content from your activities after they are completed?

The working groups will be strongly encouraged to continue their activities after the event. We will provide the participants with support in finishing their articles and consult their new ones unlit the end of the following month. We will encourage them to organize an independent event within the framework of the Art+Feminism framework in March 2021 or to join the Caryatid Collective and continue editing online with us. We will be sharing all the documentation via Commons and our social media (Facebook, instagram).

  1. Are you running any in-person events or activities? If so, you will need to complete the steps outlined on the Risk Assessment protocol related to COVID-19. When you have completed these steps, please provide a link to your completed copy of the risk assessment tool below:

No.

  1. Please confirm below that you have listed your event on the WP20 page on Meta-wiki.

  1. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?
We have already contacted several individuals in different cities and there is a tremendous enthusiasm to hold such an event, especially regarding the current socio-political context in Poland.

This survey will not request any personally identifying information. Will you be able to collect this information either during or after your event? (If you are not doing this kind of event, please write N/A or leave the section below blank)

Resources edit

What resources do you have? Include information on who is organizing the project, what they will do, and if you will receive support from anywhere else (in-kind donations or additional funding).

Caryatid Collective – we have the know-how on editing and organizing events
ZŁOTY KIOSK – an independent art institution based in Wrocław, Poland; will provide us with a promotional strategy and media contacts
Liliana Piskorska – Polish LGBTQIA+ artist based in Wrocław; will provide us with a substantive support: bibliography, list or names for the articles, resources, contacts in different cities

What resources do you need? For your funding request, list bullet points for each expense and include a total amount.

sources and other materials (eg. books) - 400 PLN
take-away meals for participants – 10 ppl x 10 cities x 25 PLN = 2500 PLN
promotional prints (eg. stickers for the participants) – 10 cities x 100 PLN = 1000 PLN
sign language translation of the lecture – 300 PLN
promotional campaigns (eg. facebook ads) – 350 PLN
promotional volunteer – 500 PLN
graphic design – 1000 PLN
Wikipedian-In-Residence (training, collecting resources) – 1500 PLN
It will be Adam Pacholak who is currently collaborating with the Contemporary Museum in Wrocław (MWW). He will be responsible for:
co-creating with us the list of suggested articles,
collecting and providing us with printed materials on artists and other people of art – because of the pandemic all the libraries are closed and we have absolutely no access to printed materials. MWW has a library and thanks to his position Adam will be sharing all the necessary materials with us,
research in the MWW's collection of multimedia and possibly uploading materials related to our edit-a-thon to Commons,
training new editors – as Adam's contract with MWW is only valid until the end of December (the institution has not yet obtained the necessary funding to prolong the collaboration, which is their intention) we would also like to provide a honorarium for the editing workshops in January and supporting them technically later on,
if MWW agrees to become our second partner, they will also support us with promotional actions.
TOTAL - 7550 PLN = ca. 1,992.43 USD
