June globally is regarded as the month of pride where LGBTQ rights is celebrated around the world and since 2021, we have been organizing Wright for Right Nigeria campaign every June to celebrate the month of pride as part of the Wiki Loves Pride campaign.

So, the project is specifically focus on celebrating the global pride month in Nigeria by creating a Wikipedia contest for editors all around Nigeria to create and translate LGBT-related Wikipedia articles so as to further bridge the gap. This is term “write for rights” as it will allow more LGBTQ contents to be added and following the success of previous editions.

The project will also train more queer persons on how to contribute to the Wikimedia projects.

Alternatively, you can upload a timeline document. When the activities include partnerships, include details about your partners and planned partnerships.
  • On June 1st, the writing contest will be launch and will close by June 30th 2024.
  • The contest will be focus on creating and improving LGBT+ related articles on Wikipedia and also adding related images as there is low representation of Nigeria LGBT contents on the Wikipedia.
  • Prizes will range from vouchers and gadgets.
  • There will be trainings for new queer Participants to contribute on the 10th and 25th of June 2024.

Target participants are the general Wikimedia contributors in Nigeria and also queer members who contribute to Wikipedia.
