1. What is the change that you are trying to bring about and why is this important.

The Wikivoyage 10th Birthday Celebration in Nigeria is a 2-day Wikimedia event to celebrate Wikivoyage's 10th birthday in Lagos. The primary aim of the conference is to promote the growth of Wikivoyage in Nigeria. The first day of the event would be a full-day conference, which would feature sessions on capacity building and development, Wikimedia skills acquisition, leadership, and knowledge sharing. The second day of the event would start in the evening as a birthday dinner and party to joyfully celebrate our community and how far we have come since we started over two years ago in Nigeria.

2. Describe your main approaches or strategies to achieve these changes and why you think they will be effective.

The main approaches are to: Raise awareness about Wikivoyage in Nigeria. Engage existing editors on different ways to contribute to the movement. Provide a networking platform/opportunity to members of the Nigerian Wikimedia community, and strengthen personal relationships amongst our members, thereby improving the community health of the Wikimedia movement overall. Provide a platform for learning, capacity building and sharing of experiences and ideas around Wikimedia projects. Provide opportunities for training of community members on program management, grants making and reporting. Create partnering opportunities with local organizations from the cultural and educational sector, which may span beyond the conference.

3. What are the activities you will be developing and delivering as part of these approaches or strategies?

A program committee will be set up to design a suitable program line-up for the conference. Possible program activities would include:

Presentations on Wikivoyagee projects in Nigeria over the past two years. Wikivoyage Edit-a-thon and training session. Capacity building workshops and roundtables. Strategy Session. Wiki dinner and party.
