1. What is the change that you are trying to bring about and why is this important.

The Wikipedia awareness have noway take place at Sokoto State University of Nigeria, The University is among the stylish University in Nigeria which has nearly ten thousands students whose study in the University and 95% of the students are Hausa lineage. It has been observed that utmost faculty members in Nigeria tertiary institutions don't accept wikipedia sources for references when supervising exploration work or indeed vetting scholars assignments. They believe that wikipedia is an open source and anybody can leave anything there and by that wikipedia sources aren't dependable and empirical . Also, some students don't indeed know that having knowledge of editing wikipedia papers can help ameliorate their digital knowledge chops, exploration chops, critical thinking skill and learning new effects outside the regular academic conditioning. As a result, this project offer will acclimatize and train Academic community of Sokoto State University of Nigeria on how they can harness the colorful article on wikipedia for their exploration work and indeed get to understand how they can give dependable citations to wikipedia articles . The project will also help students and staff to successfully use Wikipedia( and other Wikimedia products) to search, access, recoup, interpret, and cover the information consumed. Goals

1. Mindset shift from not accepting wikipedia sources as dependable to allowing students to cite wikipedia sources.
2. Introduce and produce mindfulness among staff and students of Sokoto State University of Nigeria on the effective operation of Wikipedia and its family systems similar as Wikicommons, and Other wiki sister project as a tutoring, literacy and exploration tool for reacquiring, creating, and assessing

information.

3. Train the staff and students on how they can edit wikipedia articles by adding dependable citations to articles
4. Recruit 20 new editors
2. Describe your main approaches or strategies to achieve these changes and why you think they will be effective.

In other to achieve the set pretensions, four approaches will be use and they include.

1. To organize a 2 day in- house training for the University library staff. The librarians will support in the training process and that's why they need to be train first and in turn train the students and staff.
2. To conduct a 1 day physical mindfulness and sensitization crusade during the inception of the project for both staff and students of Sokoto State University of Nigeria.
3. To organize a 1month/ 4 series( two in- person and 2 online) training for staff and students of Sokoto State University of Nigeria. This training will be done base on the faculties in the academy, the first physical training will be for the staff and students faculties of Social science, Management Science and while the alternate physical training will be for the students of Faculties of Science ,There will also been one online training for the faculties of science and Social science ,and one online training for the Faculties of Education,

Natural and Applied science and faculty of education ,making it two online trainings.

4. To organize an edithathon where the academic community will put into practice each they've learnt.
5. We'll produce a separate Whatsapp group where editors will be guided after the events. This action will help editors to solidify their knowledge through knowledge sharing and collaboration.
3. What are the activities you will be developing and delivering as part of these approaches or strategies?

1. There will be a 2 day training of the library staff where they get to know how to produce a wikipedia account, hunt for articles that need citations using the citation quest and other editing that can be done to ameliorate a wikipedia composition

2. While the in- house training is ongoing, there will be a 1 day of mindfulness within the academy, inviting staff and pupil to the training.This will serve as a means of sensitization.
3. The first day of the training will be to explain the significance of having wikipedia editing knowledge, how it can ameliorate digital knowledge chops, exploration skill, and among others to scholars and staff of Faculties of trades and Social science, Management Science and education.
4. The alternate day of the training will be to explain the significance of having wikipedia editing knowledge, how it can ameliorate digital knowledge chops, exploration skill, and among others to students and staff of Faculties of Education , Natural and Applied science.
5. The two days in- person training will be followed by another two days online training.
6. Edit-a-thon will follow where editors can practicalize all they've learnt and there will be some form of provocation to actors with loftiest number of edits. instruments will also be given out to editors.
7. Follow- up on all active partcipants to see how well they're perfecting on the chops gained during the project.

The project will help the students and staff to identify the knowledge gaps in the areas of culture, religion, race and other motifs of interest. The project will address the knowledge inequity by creating new articles and perfecting formerly being articles in the area of culture, religion, race and other motifs of interest.

The participants are Staff and students of Sokoto State University of Nigeria, Sokoto. Fliers will be designed to be distributed to druggies of the library and also a broadcast communication will be participated in the colorful departmental position watsapp groups. Also, on the academic staff watsapp groups, we will partake broadcast communication to invite them for the training. The participants will be guided on Whatsapp and in Zoom meetings in addition to the in- person training.

10. In what ways are you actively seeking to contribute towards creating a safer, supportive, more equitable environment for participants?

The Wikimedia friendly space policy will be rigorously stuck to. We'll also welcome opinions from individualities, groups that align with our objects. The training terrain will also be conducive for literacy and participants will get to learn in aneco-friendly terrain.

1. The head of Sokoto State University of Nigeria Library is completely apprehensive. I held a discussion with him and explain to him the objects of the project and he's veritably important in.

2. Staff of the library have also been insinuated about the project and they're ready and willing to support.
3. The facilitators listed over are also apprehensive and are ready to partake their knowledge with the participants.

The operation of Sokoto State University of Nigeria will be willing to mate with this project in the area of furnishing space for the training. They're motivated to mate because it'll be an avenue for the academic community to ameliorate on their digital knowledge chops and also help to project the University on the global space. It's also good of note that the academy is a member of Honoris United Universities and some of the core values are cooperative intelligence, artistic dexterity and mobile mindsets and chops. Having this training will help to achieve the vision.
