1. What is the change that you are trying to bring about and why is this important.

Awareness is the first step in building new users support in Wikipedia. Wikipedia awareness have no way take place at Sokoto State University of Nigeria, The University is among the stylish University in Nigeria which has nearly ten thousands students whose study in the University and 90% of the students are Hausa lineage. It has been observed that utmost faculty members in Nigeria tertiary institutions don't accept Wikipedia sources for assignment references when supervising exploration work or indeed vetting students assignments. They believe that Wikipedia is an open source and anybody can edit anything there and by that Wikipedia sources aren't dependable and empirical . Also, some students don't indeed know that having knowledge of editing Wikipedia articles can help ameliorate their digital knowledge chops, exploration chops, critical thinking skill and learning new effects outside the regular academic conditioning. As a result, this project offer will acclimatize and train Academic community of Sokoto State University of Nigeria on how they can harness the colorful article on wikipedia for their exploration work and indeed get to understand how they can give dependable citations to wikipedia articles . This project will also help students and staff to successfully use Wikipedia( and other Wikimedia products) to search, access, recoup, interpret, and cover the information consumed. Goals

1. Mindset shift from not accepting Wikipedia sources as dependable to allowing students to cite Wikipedia sources.
2. Introduce and produce awareness among staff and students of Sokoto State University of Nigeria on the effective operation of Wikipedia and its sisters project such as Wikicommons, and Other wiki sister project as a tutoring, literacy and exploration tool for reacquiring, creating, and assessing

information.

3. Train the staff and students on how they can edit wikipedia articles by adding dependable citations to articles
4. Recruit 20 new editors
2. Describe your main approaches or strategies to achieve these changes and why you think they will be effective.

In other to achieve the set pretensions, five approaches will be use and they include.

1. To organize a 2 day in- house training for the University library staff. The librarians will support in the training process and that's why they need to be train first and in turn train the students and staff.
2. To conduct a 1 day physical awareness and sensitization crusade during the inception of the project for both staff and students of Sokoto State University of Nigeria.
3. To organize ( two in- person and 2 online) training for staff and students of Sokoto State University of Nigeria.
4. To organize an edithathon where the academic community will put into practice each they've learnt.
5. Organizing meet up events at least once working on partnership deals with media agencies both digital and print.
3. What are the activities you will be developing and delivering as part of these approaches or strategies?

1. There will be a 2 days training of the staff and students where they get to know how to produce a Wikipedia account, hunt for articles that need citations using the citation quest and other editing that can be done to ameliorate a Wikipedia composition

2. While the in- house training is ongoing, there will be a 1 day of awareness within the academy, inviting staff and students to the training. This will serve as a means of sensitization.
3. The first day of the training will be to explain the significance of having Wikipedia editing knowledge, how it can ameliorate digital knowledge chops, exploration skill, and among others to students and staff of Faculties.
4. The two days in- person training will be followed by another two days online training.
5. Edit-a-thon will follow where editors can practicalize all they've learnt and there will be some form of provocation to participants with loftiest number of edits. instruments will also be given out to editors.
6. Follow- up on all active participants to see how well they're perfecting on the chops gained during the project.
7.ensuring we get spaces for events, inviting people for training and following up to ensure they are retained within the community.

The project will help the students and staff to identify the knowledge gaps in the areas of culture, religion, race and other motifs of interest. The project will address the knowledge inequity by creating new articles and perfecting formerly being articles in the area of culture, religion, race and other motifs of interest. Creating a body of knowledge that is comprehensive, reliable and of high quality. doing so in a participation way open to everyone and engaging everyone across the globe.

The participants are Staff and students of Sokoto State University of Nigeria, Sokoto. Fliers will be designed to be distributed to druggies of the library and also a broadcast communication will be participated in the colorful departmental position watsapp groups. Also, on the academic staff watsapp groups, we will partake broadcast communication to invite them for the training. The participants will be guided on Whatsapp and in Zoom meetings in addition to the in- person training. inviting people for training and following up to ensure they are retained within the community.

10. In what ways are you actively seeking to contribute towards creating a safer, supportive, more equitable environment for participants?

The Wikimedia friendly space policy will be rigorously stuck to. We'll also welcome opinions from individualities, groups that align with our objects. The training terrain will also be conducive for literacy and participants will get to learn in aneco-friendly terrain.

1. The head of Sokoto State University of Nigeria Library is completely apprehensive. I meet him and explain to him the objective of the project and he's veritably important.

They're motivated to meet because it'll be an avenue for the academic community to ameliorate on their digital knowledge chops and also help to project the University on the global space. Having this training will help to achieve the vision with systematic approach to improve satisfaction and productivity.
