Wikipedia campaigns have never taken place at the college, the change I will bring through this project is to recruit new editors for Hausa Wikipedia and this project is aimed at promoting awareness and usage of Wikipedia among lecturers and students. The campaign seeks to empower participants with the skills and knowledge required to contribute to Wikipedia and enhance the representation of knowledge on the platform During the event, participants are introduced to the Wikipedia concept and the importance of open knowledge. They will be taught about the principles of editing, citation guidelines, and how to create and improve articles on Wikipedia. The aim is to equip teachers and students of the college to effectively utilize Wikipedia as an educational resources. The campaign fosters collaboration and a sense community among the participants, as they work together to enhance the quality and accuracy of Hausa contents. The awareness campaign serves as a platform for lecturers and students to engage with Wikipedia and understand its potential as a learning tool by familiarizing themselves with the editing process, they can become advocates of open knowledge. Such initiatives are essential in promoting digital literacy, research skills and a culture of knowledge sharing students. These potential future teachers will contribute to the broader mission of democratizing access to information and empowering individuals to actively participate in the creation and dissemination of knowledge on Wikipedia platform to their students at their places teaching practice before graduation as well as places of work after graduation.

I have already written an official letter which I sent to the school management seeking permission to let the activity take place and hence, was received with great enthusiasm. Posters and stickers will be designed and distributed to the students at the appropriate time. A student of the college who is also my friend assisted me in reaching the school management and he is ready enough to give me every support and assistance needed for the success of this event.

I believe by engaging these potential teachers who are already willing to make impact with their words, I will increase the chance of getting more accurate narration, content creation and information about our history, culture and heritage. This will add in ensuring Wikimedia Movement Strategy is achieved and highly effective.

These participants will be taught on how to improve existing articles, adding citations, correcting errors and contributing new Wikipedia content especially, in Hausa where needed.

Day 1: new invited participants will be guided on how to creat their Wikipedia accounts, confirming their account, and registering these accounts on the created Out reach dashboard and signing up on the project page.

Day 2: This will serve as the hands-on practical training, the participants will be taught on how to create new articles and contribute to Wikipedia, Wiktionary and wiki Commons. Edit-a-thon begins as planned, there will be an edit-a-thon for the participants to contribute to the knowledge acquired. At the end of the training, certificate of participation and awards will be issued to the participants and special award and recognition to the highest editors.

I already sent an introductory letter to the school management and was received with great enthusiasm. And I was fortunate to meet the Students Union Government (SUG) president of the college, we discussed a lot on how to organize the campaign in the school. Being an alumini of the college, I was also lucky to meet some of my lecturers who taught me in the school some years back, these teachers are happy with my initiative and promise to offer every necessary help and support in the successful of the event. It's a college that women outnumber men because woman are by nature are destined to teach and women are mostly underrepresented so I want to bridge this gap by encouraging them to participate and contribute to the contents in relation to teaching and planning required. Participants may not necessarily have the skills ad they are new in the system but I am optimistic that most of them will bring smartphones, laptops and other supportive devices that will help in the smooth running of the project to the value.
