1. What is the change that you are trying to bring about and why is this important.

Climate Change and environmental issues such as air and water pollution, poor waste management, flood and deforestation have remained crucial issues in our society today. These issues are affecting the quality of life of the earth`s inhabitat given that it directly affects our environment. In order to address these issues, information about Climate Change and Environmental Issues must be available for all. During theWikidata 10th birthday celebration, we will be training participants to create Wikidata entries on environment related issues, persons and organizations. Therefore, this project is designed to help advance a healthy and sustainable environment in our World through Wikidata.

2. Describe your main approaches or strategies to achieve these changes and why you think they will be effective.

The main approach to achieve the desired change is to train individuals to contribute to Wiki projects such as Wikipedia, Wikidata and Wikimedia Commons. In this case, participants will be trained on the use of Wikidata. This will help them to be effective content creators adding Wikidata entries about Climate Change and environmental issues. This will ultimately help to achieve a sustainable environment.

3. What are the activities you will be developing and delivering as part of these approaches or strategies?

We will be organizing the following activities: Awareness and sensitization campaigns about Wikidata and Environmental issues. We will organize in-person events to cater for Wikidata training and edit-a-thon. We will create an outreachdashboard where we will assign articles to participants and also monitor their activities. We will create a separate Whatsapp group where participants will be mentored after the events. This initiative will help participants to solidify their knowledge through knowledge sharing and collaboration. Also, interested participants will be added to the Port Harcourt Wikimedia Hub Whatsapp group.

User: Ugwulebo - is the co-founder of the Port Harcourt Wikimedia Hub. He is an experienced Wikimedian who has organized several Wikimedia projects in Nigeria. He will lead this project.

User: Omorodion1 - is an experienced Wikimedian and a co-founder of the Port Harcourt Wikimedia Hub. He has organized and facilitated several Wikimedia events in Nigeria. He will be the chief facilitator for this project. He is an alumni of the Oxford School of Climate Change organized by the Oxford Climate Society. He has also been involved in SDG activities in Nigeria. User: Godstime Elijah - He is an experienced Wikimedian and has organized several events in Nigeria. He has also managed several Wikimedia groups. He will bring his experience into this project.

The project will provide opportunities for participants to add climate change and environmental contents to Wikidata.

The target participants for this project will be undergraduate students from Ignatius Ajuru University of Education and Rivers State University of Science and Technology, both in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. Members of the Port Harcourt Wikimedia Hub will also join this project. We will use social media to engage with the participants before, during and after the project.
