Increase awareness of climate topics and their connection with free knowledge, and strive to write on these topics through Wikimedia projects. The participation and contribution of any emerging community, such as the Libyan community, in the campaigns organized by the movement are a major challenge that apply and implemented due to a lack of knowledge about projects and campaigns. Also, there are not many experienced members in the emerging community. Organizing activities to raise awareness of these topics, such as discussions and webinars. Also coordination training and contests to provide the opportunity for new and old users to contribute to Wikipedia and its sister projects regarding these topics.

Awareness session in Benghazi (webinar). Contest on the Arabic Wikipedia on behalf of the Maghreb region.

A partnership with Barah Foundation for Culture and Arts in the city of Benghazi. It may be a partnership with an environmental organization in Benghazi. Environmental specialists and activists will participate in the webinar in person.

The organizational team includes Nanour and Salema to coordinate and facilitate the project and follow up on the implementation of activities. As for the contest that will be held on Wikipedia, the contest’s work team will include Adel Nehaoua and Nada Al-Farra, and the contest will be judged by Ajwan and Nanour. As for the webinar, we will cooperate with partners and with the Maghreb region coordinator for the Wiki Climate Change campaign 2024.

We will invite the Wikimedia Libya community to participate in the campaign activities. We will advertise on social media and directly contact some organizations in Benghazi that are interested in it.  The contest will be open to all members of the Arab community, with a focus on the Maghreb content of the environment.

This is the second time we have organized climate change campaign activities in the Maghreb region in the city of Benghazi in Libya. We discussed this project with the campaign coordinator for our region and met with the work team to map out the steps and define the activities.
