Part 1: Project and impact

edit

1. Describe the implemented activities and results achieved. Additionally, share which approaches were most effective in supporting you to achieve the results. (required)

We expanded the list of monuments to be photographed and documented, and this produced a lot of new coverage. The centralnotice was the standard/default for WLM and we used in previous years. Jury went fast and reported to the international jury. Unfortunately because we did not receive the grant on time, we had to keep an embargo to announcing or national winners, until a week before the international announcement and had to apoligise to all winners for not receiving their prizes for months. For same reasons we did not hold any ceremony, event, or activity that needed grant money. Competing Sitenotices resulted in less awareness thus less participation. We did have a lot of new monuments documented, many of them being the ones we recently added to the list.

Part 2: Learning

edit

4. In your application, you outlined some learning questions. What did you learn from these learning questions when you implemented your project? How do you hope to use this learnings in the future? You can recall these learning questions below. (required)

You can recall these learning questions below: The successful implementation of the Wiki Loves Monuments Greece proposal and the strategies outlined can provide valuable learning opportunities in leadership, project management, community engagement, content creation, advocacy, and partnership building. These skills and experiences can be useful in many other contexts and can help to build a strong foundation for future projects and initiatives.

We managed to meet some of our goals and while we did not meet our target metrics, they were still healthy.

Our participation was lower. The majority of participation comes from site notices, which can vary year by year based on settings and competing site notices. Our wish to use social media ads could not be implemented because of late receive of the funding (due to bank).

Resolving problems with bank and legal bureaucracy at least we now feel ready to run any other activitiy, and we know and have documented what is needed if any other problem arise.

5. Did anything unexpected or surprising happen when implementing your activities? This can include both positive and negative situations. What did you learn from those experiences? (required)

Having a registered association using that bank account for the first time was a new thing for us and as we are spread in different cities it is very difficult sometimes to cope with bureaucratic issues. The bank withheld the money until we provided a lot of documents, so we could not use the grant before, during, and a lot of months after the event, thus it prevented a lot of the required activities. Since resolving these problems at least we are now ready to run any other activitie, and we know what is needed if any other problem arise.

6. What is your plan to share your project learnings and results with other community members? If you have already done it, describe how. (required)

We will fully document all work processes needed to organize a WLM for every year, starting from scratch, steps, tools, what works well and what not. Essentially a how to guide, helpful to other teams and increasing our bus factor.
