Part 1: Project and impact edit

1. Describe the implemented activities and results achieved. Additionally, share which approaches were most effective in supporting you to achieve the results. (required)

The WLM project returned to Serbia last year after a multi-year break and organizational challenges and problems. That results were limited, making it a significant challenge to organize the project this year. In addition to standard changes in the lists and factual conditions, this year we faced a high inflation rate, exceeding 24%. However, with a new organizational team, supported by last year's organizers, all goals were successfully accomplished, and they are among the best on a global level, historically speaking. Lists of monuments were updated, collaborations were established with local partners, and a new promotional campaign was launched on social media. Metrics were surpassed, with a 210% increase in the number of predicted participants and a 216% increase in the number of predicted number of photos. The expected metrics were realistic and aligned with last year's results. With significant efforts and a successful campaign, this year's metrics are among the best in the history of the WLM competition in Serbia, ranking second best after the results from 2012. Moreover, comparing results over the last three years globally, these results rank among the top performers.

Part 2: Learning edit

4. In your application, you outlined some learning questions. What did you learn from these learning questions when you implemented your project? How do you hope to use this learnings in the future? You can recall these learning questions below. (required)

You can recall these learning questions below: The goal of monitoring the implementation of the project is to continuously evaluate activities, collect data and use resources to improve Wikimedia projects, but also volunteer commitment and involvement. Some of the issues to be addressed are:

  1. Can the project still be organized on an individual basis, as was the case last year, and as is the case in several other WLM organizations around the world?
  2. Is this project effective for encouraging Wikipedia volunteers to update and improve existing articles which do not fall into the most popular topics?
  3. Is this project effective to identify and attract others or members in collecting photos?
  1. Surely. In fact, it turned out to be useful because the team was focused on just one project and could focus its all capacities on its implementation. On the other hand, a group of people with the skills and experience to implement the same or a similar project in the future has been formed. At the same time, it is support for individuals and informal communities outside official organizations.
  1. Although the achieved result in writing articles is less than the planned metric, it is actually the result of great work and campaign that was organized both last year and this year. Thanks to these efforts, all the 2266 monuments got their articles. We did not count articles written outside the editorial marathon in the final result. In the future, it will remain a challenge to update them and strive for each article to have a free photo.
  1. The project attracted many new competitors and institutions that supported WLM in Serbia. They also expressed their desire to participate and organize the same and similar projects in the future.

5. Did anything unexpected or surprising happen when implementing your activities? This can include both positive and negative situations. What did you learn from those experiences? (required)

Big inflation, one of the biggest in Europe, and the budget has been the same for years. We had to adapt the situation and on the other hand ensure the quality that is expected of us.

6. What is your plan to share your project learnings and results with other community members? If you have already done it, describe how. (required)

Sharing results and positive stories with the internal and external community.
