Wiki Loves Earth

6. What is the change you are trying to bring? What are the main challenges or problems you are trying to solve? Describe this change or challenges, as well as main approaches to achieve it. (required)

We want to organize Wiki Loves Earth 2024 in Kazakhstan. By this approach we want to meet 2 goals: enlarge number of quality pictures for nature monuments of Kazakhstan and bring newcomers into local Wikimedia movement.

Generally, we're planning to stuck to the international campaign with all the on-wiki promotion. We want to make a 3-language landing page (in English, Russian and Kazakh) to ensure the coverage of all the most possible participants both locals and tourists. Local round will be held from June 15 to July 15, then, there'll be evaluation made in 4 rounds by jury council. At the end, we should have 8-10 winners with 10-15 photographs by the August 31.

Mostly we have no any preferences for participants: anyone who has a camera can took part in WLE. We're planning to spread a word about Wiki Loves Earth in the internet communities of hikers, travellers and nature enthusiasts.

We're not working in direct contact with participants (including minors) until the awarding of winners, where young winners should be with their legal representative or parent. All contacts with them are made under Law of Republic of Kazakhstan № 345.

We will spread a word about ongoing competition in local and regional Wikimedia chats. Also we're planning a Kazakh Wikipedia conference soon and want to make a report on WLE 2022 and 2023 in Kazakhstan there, so everyone in Kazakh Wikimedia community will be invited to participate in 2024.

We plan to evaluate the results of Wiki Loves Earth 2024 in Kazakhstan to understand how can we bring more participants to the contest in next year and implement this data on other countries in Central Asia.
