Wiki Loves Earth 2023 in Zambia

Q. Indicate if it is a local, international, or regional proposal and if it involves several countries? (optional)

Local

Q2. If you have answered regional or international, please write the country names and any other information that is useful for understanding your proposal.

R. If you would like, please share any websites or social media accounts that your group or organization has.

1. What is the change that you are trying to bring about and why is this important.

Wiki Loves Earth is a photography competition that aims to capture images of the natural beauty and heritage of different countries around the world. As a country, participating in this competition could have a significant impact on both the Wikimedia movement and the rising awareness in the country about the foundation.

So firstly, taking part in the Wiki Loves Earth competition will allow us to explore and appreciate the natural beauty that Zambia has to offer. By taking photographs of the stunning landscapes, waterfalls, wildlife, and heritage sites in the country, you will develop a deeper connection with the environment and a better understanding of its importance. This will not only benefit them personally but also help raise awareness about the importance of protecting these natural resources.

All the photographs will be uploaded to the Wikimedia Commons website, where they can be accessed and used freely by anyone and later used on Wikimedia's projects.

2. Describe your main approaches or strategies to achieve these changes and why you think they will be effective.

One effective strategy is to increase publicity and awareness of the competition. This can be done through social media campaigns, press releases, and other marketing strategies to reach a wider audience. By increasing the publicity, more people will be aware of the competition, and more people will participate. Engaging communities is another strategy that can be effective in promoting competition. This can be done by partnering with local organizations, schools, and community groups to encourage participation. By engaging communities, more people will be motivated to participate, and it will also create a sense of pride and ownership in the competition. Providing incentives for participation is another strategy that can be effective. For example, offering prizes for the best photographs can motivate more people to participate. This strategy can also help to generate more interest and excitement about the competition, which can result in more submissions. Providing resources such as photography tips, guides, and edit-a-thon can also be an effective strategy. This will help participants to improve their photography skills, resulting in better-quality photographs. It can also make the competition more accessible to those who may not have had the opportunity to learn about photography before. In conclusion, by implementing these strategies, Wiki Loves Earth in Zambia can attract more participants and promote the importance of environmental conservation. Increasing publicity, engaging communities, and providing incentives and resources will all be effective ways to achieve these changes.

3. What are the activities you will be developing and delivering as part of these approaches or strategies?

Here are some specific activities that can be developed and delivered as part of the approaches and strategies mentioned earlier. Increase Publicity Develop a social media campaign to promote the competition on platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
