4. Where will this proposal be implemented? (required)

International (more than one country across continents or regions) This proposal is related to a Wiki Loves Campaign, desgined as a photographic contest. Its name is Wiki Loves Cosplay, and it will be organized whether the grand is approved or not. But we need a grant to provide awards to the winners, which will be located anywhere in the world.


We plan to release it during Wikimania 2023 in Singapore, where Cosplay culture will have a small space, but it's a contest where people froma ll around the world are welcome.

As Wikivibrance, we want to encourage Young People participation in our movement. We want to encourage participation in Wikimedia projects by celebrating Cosplay and its culture.

We aim to a photo contest similar to existing campaigns such as Wiki Loves Folklore, and in that line, we will provide three different awards, an award for best picture, for best costume, and one of «best picture depicting material not yet covered in Wikimedia Commons».

The activity will be organized in any case, but we ask for funding for the awards.

11. How did you discuss the idea of your project with your community members and/or any relevant groups? The idea on working on Cosplay was born by a conservation between Francesc and Dody during the lunchtime on the EduWiki Conference in Belgrade.

When the Wikimania program took form and Dody's proposal on celebrating cosplay culture was part of the program, Wikivibrance Core Team debated about organizing such an event, and then we consulted Dody, we designed a proposal, and the launched it.

We plan to win new editors (or at least raise awarness from new communities) by appealing the cosplay editor community

We expect to create fun activities so existing editors might be interested on participating, improving their experience and improving the sustainability of the movement.
