Wiki love of Africa is an annual contest that encourages people to take and upload their photos and videos experiences on Wikimedia Commons.


Joining the Global campaign:Add more images about the theme (Africa Creates) in our community and improve articles by integrating these images in their related articles

Advocacy:Recruit and train new editors through the various photo expeditions, upload sessions and edit-a-thons.

Engage existing editors to contribute to Commons and other sister projects in our community

Create awareness about the Wikimedia movement and its activities through the photo walk and the campaign generally

7. What are the planned activities? (required) Please provide a list of main activities. You can also add a link to the public page for your project where details about your project can be found. Awareness campaigns: we will be carrying out awareness campaigns about the event and also promoting awareness of our community to the public using our social media channels and also creating E-fliers and posters about the event to create awareness to our members and interested participants.

Photo Walk/ Training: we will be organizing a photo walk as part of the global campaign to create awareness about wikimedia commons and also upload photos and video about Africa. During the course of the photo walk will be having a training session to train participants on how to upload their photos on wikimedia commons and how to be part of the photo contest globally.

Virtual learning: There will be a follow up session virtually to discuss on the contribution of our participants during the contest and engage the participants to know their experiences and challenges during the process of uploading their photos from the photo walk.

Contest: As the global campaign is about contest the will be a local contest within our community and prizes will be given to top contributors during the contest.

Favourdare123(president): I am the president of the Wikimedia fan club Unilorin, and also an active contributor on wikimedia projects, i have hosted project like Hackathons 2022, WikiVibrance and Wikipedia awareness in Oro and I also have Co facilitated Info tourism and Wellness which was a photo Walk.

I will be handling the physical training during the event.

Akintundedaniel(general secretary): he is also an experienced editor and trainer who has lead lots of projects under the wikimedia movement and has also trained a lot of participants

He will be in charge of the training virtually and also engaging editors during the contest serving as the local jury for the community.

Mijesty(Social Media Manager) she is an experienced editor and also a experienced trainer. She has been involved in training participants in project like reading Wikipedia in class, Let’s connect in kwara state 2022 and many other projects.

She will be in charge of information and communication with the community and it interested participants. She will be handling the awareness campaigns and active communication with the participants.

Our target participants are our community members and everyone who has interest in joining our fan club

Before the event: we aim at engaging the community and informing them about the event through all our social media platforms and also posting e-flyers. This will encourage the to anticipate about the event creating awareness to interested participants who wish to participate.

During the event, the participants we would continually engage the participants through our social media platform, to keep them informed during the events and to be able to communicate with them and share information to them about the complete and also the process of the photo walk and encourage them to participate in the global contest.

After the event: they will be added to our community platform and we will engage the group to share more information about wikimedia projects and to keep them active even after the campaigns.

We believe that our strategy will encourage our participants to be active contributors to the community and the wikimedia movement.
